    ✨My Therapy ✨

Running is quite possibly the only thing that I will voluntarily wake up early for and not be mad about it. 
In fact, when the alarm does go off and I have that initial "Oh, NO" moment, I then actually get excited when I realize that I'm awake this early to RUN. 💗

This past week or so has been rough. I've been holding off on sharing this until I was ready, but last Thursday we got a terminal cancer diagnosis for our other dog, Bill. I'm not even sure the word "devastated" fits what I've been feeling. I don't have kids and our pups are the closest thing to it. They're pretty much our life. 🤷‍♀️ Running, however, is that time (almost) every morning that I get some therapy. To feel the cool(er) air on my skin, to reflect on all that Bill has meant to us, and to be thankful for him and the present and all the blessings I have in my life. 
And even though that sadness is still there, I come back refreshed and inspired to make the most of our time left with our little man.

    Got to run with my lovely friend @swimbikerun1976 this morning for a scenic easy run that flew by because we had a lot to talk about 🤗 & we saw a rainbow 🌈!! Followed by a 90 Min Ride with a lot of hill work in my Cycle Class sandwiched in the middle! Then a tough upper body circuit in 30 mins! Feeling healthy and excited to work as I continue to build for #IMLOU Make it a great Wednesday!! ⚡️💫

    Hartes Brett heute! Eigentlich stand ein Regenerationslauf auf dem Plan. Aber mich haben kurz nach dem Foto die Bremsen arglistig attackiert! Somit bin ich im Anschluss eine neue PB auf 1 KM gelaufen 🤷🏻‍♂️🏃🏻‍♂️ Jetzt gehts unter die 🚿, dann aufs 🛋 und im Anschluss ins 🛏! Morgen klingelt es schließlich wieder sehr früh 🤷🏻‍♂️ [Werbung/Eigenfinanziert]

    🚨 #workoutwednesday 🚨- Tempo runs.

Tempo runs are keys sessions that can be incorporated into any training plan 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♂️
.
Tempo runs Increase lactate threshold ( more beneficial for HM or marathon races) to run faster at easier effort levels, Improves focus on effort and pace, promotes race simulation by running them at or quicker than the race pace and builds mental strength.
.
.
They should be at an effort level that is “comfortably hard” (able to manage a couple of words)
.
Tempo runs are great sessions to test out those planned race paces and you can build on the length (in time) of the sessions or speed of the effort.
They build on running Efficiency. .
As with any session make sure you get in a good 10-15minute warm up and same cool down after.
Include dynamic stretching before hitting the session.

1. Progressive tempo - start from approx 1 1/2 min slower than marathon pace down to marathon pace in small increments (5-15 sec per mile).
.
.
2. In and outs - after the warm up alternate between 1min slower than race pace then race pace for a mile each. The length of sessions depends  on the race distance you are training for.
Typically for 5k and 10k you would be looking at 20-30 minutes of efforts and half marathon to marathon 40-60.
.
.
These efforts should be around 85-90% Maximum heat rate and 8/10 on effort level.

Nattens økt: 4 km og 467 hm! 2 km på asfalt og 2 km RETT OPP! Glemte helt bort at jeg har høydeskrekk da jeg foreslo til mannen om å dra til Reinebringen. Det gikk veldig bra de første trappetrinnene, så ble frykten bare større og større hver gang jeg snudde meg og så bakover, men herrefred det var så verdt det! For en utsikt, for en natur, for en opplevelse! MAGISK ✨ ✨

    “Sometimes you have to take a step back in order to go two steps forward”

I’ve been feeling a little bit stuck in a rut with my running of late and despite working just as hard as I was 6 months ago, I just don’t feel like I’m making any progress. 
This got me thinking on my run this morning. What even is progress? Is it getting faster? Is it getting PB’s at every race? No. Right now, progress for me is listening to my body and knowing when not to push it so when I am ready to go again, I’ll be better and stronger for it. 
So, It’s time to go back to basics, remember why I run, smile, enjoy and reset.

    this run...man. 🥵

my breathing was heavy + the stops were frequent.

there was slightly more wiggling + certainly more chafing than i remembered.

all trails seemed to lead to flooded dead ends + i’m not sure that even after 5mi the runner’s high ever kicked in.

but here i am, smiling + happy as can be. because just to have a body that wants to (+ CAN) move like this is such an absolute gift. 🥰
