Jackie Kennedy attending mass in the 60’s. A biography I read on her stated “to know Jackie O is to know a Catholic sense of things.”
.
I love pictures of Jackie veiling/attending mass...
.
I’ve veiled during Advent and Lent, and while in the presence of the Pope. I would like to more often, it feels right to honor the Eucharist in such a way. The tradition is slowly making a comeback among millennials, as are many traditions lost to the spirit of Vatican II.
.
One need only look at the most popular Catholic accounts on social media to see that “trads” are the most influential laypeople in the Church.
.
The message is clear: No more Mcarrick’s. No more gay mafia. No more heresies from our clergy. No more assuaging your own guilt by allowing the Fr. James Martin’s of the world twist and distort the faith. .

June is a month for weddings. In fact, not only do I celebrate my anniversary this month with the hubs, but my parents, grandparents, in-laws and sister and her husband all mark their wedding anniversaries this month too, which got me to wondering, why in the world is June so peppered with weddings in the first place? Turns out, the month of June is named for Juno, the ancient goddess of marriage and family. Roman couple married in ancient times during this time to seek the blessing of Juno who would hopefully bring health, wealth and good luck to the newlyweds. The tradition continued throughout the ages ( I read something about medieval couples getting married in June because that was the time they took their annual bath?!?!) until very recently when October usurped June as the most popular wedding month. I certainly have been lucky in my marriage and received a wealth of love and (mostly) health with family, so with the greatest of humility and gratitude, thank you Juno. .

I’m all about traditions and cultural heritage. Sometimes I wish I was born in a different country, one rich in traditions. I also wish I was born in England in the 1600s, so there’s that. ☺️ It was so fun to create these little hand-cut (😳) Swedish sugary biscuits for a wedding last weekend. I loved researching and learning about traditional Dala horses. 🇸🇪 For those who don’t know what a Dala horse looks like, here ya go!
