Now the last rider has finished the @pancelticrace2019 I feel I can now post knowing that everyone is home safely.

Myself and @will.j.r_neale completed the Pan Celtic Race 2019 last Sunday after 838 miles covered over 8 days.
This was one hell of a week with ups and downs emotionally and on the road. It took us through Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland and finishing in Wales.

During this time we were raising money for the @callum_wylie_foundation where we smashed our target and are still raising funds close to the £5000 marks which is just incredible.

Special mention to my partner in crime for this trip Will Neale. This young man aged only 14 was the youngest competitor by far. The mental strength he has shown to get round the insane self supported bike race is something to behold! Everyday riding with him was a pleasure and a laugh and made the miles fly by.
Dude, you've surprised a hell of a lot people and raised a massive amount of money. Anything that you want to achieve in the future is now possible by finishing this race and you have made your family, friends and myself very proud!

Final thank you to the organisers Matt, Pete, Toby, Rebecca and the rest of the team for an awesome race and I'll definitely be back next year as I think most of us riders will be... And not just for the after party!

In a few days time the Pan Celtic Race starts. Another incredible fund raiser for the Callum Wylie Foundation! Another gruelling #shred4cal. Will Neale who is only 14, yes ONLY 14, is going to cycle the Pan Celtic Race along with another intrepid road cyclist, Alex Harvey.
They are going to begin their adventure on the 7th July cycling 838 miles through Scotland, Ireland and Wales. They will be self supported and carrying all their gear for camping wild. Cycling approximately 100 miles a day. AWESOME!! Best of luck lads and most importantly enjoy!❤️ Please give them a helping hand👏😀 https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/vicki-neale?utm_term=3px4eqKdp

Another slightly mad, bonkers #shred4cal fundraiser taking place in just 19 days time. Another intrepid duo...Will Neale 14 years of age & Alex Harvey are training hard for the Pan Celtic Race. A self supported adventurous bike ride of 800 miles with 14,546 metres of ascent, taking about 8 days, starting in the Highlands of Scotland, through Ireland and Wales, finishing in Llandudno. Here are a few piccies some of them on a training ride, over 100 miles a day, then camping as they have to carry all their kit with them!
Wish them luck☘️ Will and Alex have a big target to hit, raising money for Callum..... https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/pan-celtic-2019-callum-wylie-foundation?utm_term=J26myp6kJ

Don’t forget next Friday, Callum’s Memorial Walk...one of his favourite spots....❤️. A walk to remember our wonderful son, reflect on all he achieved in his short life and just him being a wonderful young man.....see link below for details. Hopefully see some of you there.... See Callum Wylie Foundation for details...briefly meet at the cafe near Ogwen Cottage, car park. At 5:00 p.m 21st June, longest day of the year. To start walking at 5:30 p.m. Approx five and a half hours. We will walk up the Devils Kitchen to Y Garn and back down the zig zag route.
Bring all the usual kit, snacks & head torch, for a reasonably strenuous walk. (Slow for me as my knees are knackered!)

Meet Carragh, the most gorgeous horse, who helps keep my sanity after such trauma......
When a child dies, part of a parent dies. That is a fact. From that point forward, parents live in a state of "partial life" due to having what is now called "broken heart syndrome." We are just beginning to learn all of the facts concerning grief, the effects of grief, and the reality of how grief changes the very physical and emotional make-up of parents. Those who say to parents of child loss that they should have closure and move on simply do not understand the facts of what happens to a parent physically and emotionally when a child dies. There are very real changes that take place. The pain of loss is real. Yes, parents will eventually learn how to " live within the pain of loss" , but there will always and forever be a part of a parent that is missing. Parents of child loss are courageous beyond words! They are living with part of their heart and soul missing, and there is nothing ~ absolutely nothing ~ to compare to this kind of pain. God bless every parent of child loss this day with the continued courage and strength needed to go on” ~ Author Clara Hinton (2016)

What an incredible #shred4cal! Still cannot stop thinking about that completely mad, wild and exhausting 24 hours of ‘Everesting’! I am sure Callum Dixon & Aiden O'Leary are still aching a lot!
For Callum he spent 25 hours on a bike. Stopped to eat around 6000 calories, ( calorie expenditure 9000! ). He had no sleep, cycling 9,500 metres of elevation or 32 laps of Marchlyn Mawr( surge pond ). He now earns the coveted grey stripe jersey and becomes the 3,499th person in the entire world to have managed this👏. Aiden very similar 20 hours on a bike, no sleep, 7000 metres of height gain up to Marchlyn Mawr.
Just 6 laps short, who cares we are still hugely proud especially given the awful conditions.
The weather could not have been worse, pretty much for the whole 25 hours. High winds gusting at 50 mph. Driving rain, mist & dense fog through the night which made the conditions truly atrocious😩. Here is what some say about this incredible challenge: “It’s bloody tough. They have put their blood, sweat and tears into that sucka”. “Everesting is so physically demanding that very few people will ever have the mental and physical strength and endurance to achieve one”.
All this for our lovely Callum Wylie! A huge massive, humongous thank you both. My Callum would have thought you entirely bonkers!!
Kev & I are humbled by your sheer grit and determination, Aiden O'Leary & Callum Dixon you guys ROCK!! Thank you to all who came to support in such unrelenting weather. What a great bunch of guys the uphill cycling fraternity are. Also to Follow Films, Hollie Harmsworth and Graham Cooper, for filming/photographing whatever weather was thrown at them for literally hours and through the night. Thanks to sportpicturesCymru for fab photos. Lastly please share this post, as Callum Dixon says

So less than 24 hours to go! Please wish Aiden O'Leary and Callum Dixon all the very best for their “Everesting” attempt. Cycling uphill the equivalent height of Everest 8,848 metres or 29,000 feet. ‘Simple yet brutally hard. Everesting is the most difficult climbing challenge in the world’. One activity
No time limit
No sleep
There have been 3,469 successful attempts in the world, can Aiden & Callum be the 3,470th?
Last minute preparation...plenty of food...😬. Please try and help the lads to reach their target only £200 to go....or join them tomorrow from 7:00 a.m for 20 hours near Mynydd Llandygai grid ref 597 631. The weather looks good!

The bigger the climb, the fewer the repetitions needed. Pick a climb, work out the elevation difference & divide by 8.848 to find out how many repetitions you need to complete it😅. Just visited the chosen route today that Callum Dixon & Aiden O'Leary will take. Fair play and total respect you two!! Kev & I and Callum in spirit will be there to support you.
Please come along at any time from 7:00 a.m onwards for next 20 hours or so to support them, ride a bike, hand out some food or just encouraging words.

The Callum Wylie Foundation is going to hopefully help a lot of different people. One of the key objectives will be to help us neurotypical folk understand what life is like for more higher functioning autistic people like Callum, why he struggled so much in life, that most of us weren’t really aware of.
Here in Callum we had a bright, intelligent, verbal, talented young person. Most people were not aware that things were a struggle or amiss for him.
By just a few sentences a day along with #shred4cal stories and photos that we hope you are going to keep sending in, we can slowly help you all to understand the ‘different’ way those on the higher functioning spectrum of autism think and view life.
The #shred4cal challenges are a way to remember Callum and keep him alive in our memories. Callum loved his extreme sports and mad, muddy, outdoor adventures, so would approve of what you are all doing!
To help me get over my grief of losing my beloved son Callum, I am setting myself lots of physical challenges throughout 2019. The first is 14 consecutive days of early morning walks, uphill, some with a swim. I intend to swim every month of 2019, outdoors without a wetsuit. The Llyns are cold at present approx 4 degrees. So a bit of a challenge. I am on day 3 so far, haven’t swum yet as working up to it ( my excuse I have had lurgies for over 3 weeks, so not feeling the best yet! )

What will be your challenge???? #shred4cal ???? Please share posts, do challenges and join in with points of view, any opinions you may have.

Let’s make 2019 count for Callum!

The ski season is in full swing. Freestyle skiing was a passion of Callum’s. Don’t know where he found it, but he did and spent a considerable number of years going up and down the country, Europe & once to Canada honing these scary skills! Callum often injured himself but that is a par of the course!! As parents we had to pick up the pieces😳😬. Just wanted to say a word of thanks to a community of freestyle skiers who helped Callum become a fairly accomplished skier and whom have not forgotten him now he is no longer here.
Last September, a wonderful group of coaches and his fellow skiing buddies put on a really fun and great day at Kidsgrove Ski Centre. #shred4cal freestyle competition and @northstaffs_freestyle who couldn’t have been more enthusiastic. They Raised £1300!! It was fantastic and the ski centre raised even more money later on in the year raffling a bike. Also Justin Taylor Tipton raised even more at a competition he put on.
A big word of thanks to Kidsgrove Ski Centre. They never knew Callum but gave up their ski slope for a day for free, and so many volunteers turned up to make the day run smoothly.
We want to thank you all so much... Andy Bennett, Becky Bennett, James Webb, Mason Flannery, Shaun Flannery, Tom Greenway. And for all the skiers who turned up to shred4cal.
Pat Sharples is going to help us with the Callum Wylie Foundation . We are going to put our heads together.... so watch this space!
