This has felt like a near perfect weekend. I’m not saying that there haven’t been tantrums or sleepless babies or frustration at still not fitting into any of my old clothes or irritability around the boys and disappointment at Australia not winning @eurovision
But there has been den building and kite making and I got some time to do my work and we went swimming and Gryff didn’t scream and we drove to Manchester to do a wholefood shop at @unicorngrocery and he didn’t vomit in the car (although he did wet himself). And it’s all felt pretty even and ok and not a big deal. And that feels peaceful and good enough.
Let’s see what tomorrow holds. (Spot the massive patch of mould that we just cannot seem to get rid of no matter how hard we try.) ✌🏻

The little lady sat atop the books was made from a cherry wood tree by my dad Gareth. Over the years his wooden gifts to me have included a duck money box that doesn’t have a hole in the bottom, a bunk bed, a broach, a wooden head of an African woman, a gazillion maracas and a banister. I’m holding out for a new friend for the lady. 👯‍♀️ I’m at my desk today, a supreme luxury. Especially after last night’s bedtime which lasted for three hours and had me silent screaming into my fist. I hope you’re spending Saturday in your favourite way, and if you’re not, I hope you have a strong head for daydreaming. 💛

Who has been in our shop and seen our new Tailor collection? Available in fantastic new ‘Wardrobe’ selection of fabrics and leathers, the Tailor features a choice of standard or pillow back options. We love the loose fitting fabric finish, what do you think?

Instagram can be the source of a lot of angst and comparison, but it can also be such a source of inspiration and a way to connect and create a community. Thanks to the truly lovely outpouring of support on Tuesday when anxiety was having a mini rave in my brain. It’s now downscaled to a house party, so i’m hoping by Saturday it’ll be a nice polite tea party. How are you? How’s your Thursday? 💛

We’ve been rather busy behind the scenes here at Annie Mo’s doing a huge update on our website for @alexanderandjamessofas! In the last week they launched brand new plains, patterns and leathers and we love them! As well as this they have launched new models too.
-
Pictured is the new Grace Snuggler in new Babette Coal fabric. This collection comes in a Snuggler, midi and maxi sofa and each one comes with the option of with or without a fringe.
-
Be sure to keep an eye out on our website as there’s lots of activity and we wouldn’t want you to miss out!

Spent the last half hour giving the playroom half of this room a tidy.. if I have to pick another Hama bead off the floor I swear I’ll scream! Next time the hoover’s coming out...
Counting down till Friday when we’re receiving delivery of our new sofa bed for in here. It’ll be perfect for when babysitters or guests stay over, as we don’t have a spare bedroom. Need to get my act in gear and run up a pair of curtains for in here, too. Looking forward to seeing how the sofa looks!

Good morning Tuesday Anxiety! Where did you spring from? Thanks but no thanks, got too much to do today. I’m hoping if I ignore the feeling and carry on with my day it’ll slowly evaporate. A kind of fake it until you feel better approach. Can’t focus too much on it anyway as someone is screaming at me to wipe his bum. 🤦🏻‍♀️

We agreed not to do any housework over the weekend and simply enjoy our time together and the glorious sunshine. BIG MISTAKE. The house descended into such utter chaos that It took me two hours just to make the kitchen usable this morning. Also, does anyone actually enjoy hanging out laundry? Hate, hate, hate it. Along with washing cutlery. And dusting. God, I think we need a live in cleaner. Anyway, I hope your Monday thoughts are more exciting than my musings on housework. 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ Please, tell me your most despised tasks, I love a good moan.

Been quiet on here recently as we sold our flat in 3 days, started moving stuff into storage and we’ve been viewing houses most days for a month. Nothing inspired us and we couldn’t agree on anything but then last week the perfect house popped up. We jumped on it and offered over the asking price to get it off the market. Feeling so lucky and excited and just hope it all goes through smoothly 🤞🏼 can’t wait to get the paint charts out again 🤩💘

My treasure chest, sat at the bottom of the sea. So close to the foot of the bed but often so hard to get to when drowning in the daily minutiae.
But today, I finally scan in all the drawings I’ve been amassing over the last few months and sit down to start pulling together some designs. Let’s hope there’s treasure.

Yep, hide nor hair of the sunshine this week and it’s really starting to get me down. No matter how many walks I take or pep talks i give myself, it’s definitely affecting my mood and patterns of thinking. I’m self critical, moody and unmotivated.
It doesn’t help that we live in a valley. I was discussing with a fellow valley dweller earlier this week how living here makes you obsessed with light, constantly searching for it, endlessly yearning for more. I ogle high up houses with tall windows and murmur ‘ooooh, I bet they get good light...’. Anyone got some magical tips for dealing with low light, or any spells to summon the sunlight? I’m a woman in desperate need. ☀️🌞🌻

The new thing in this house: Ruis shouting "head!" at us whilst touching her toes, meaning "sing head, shoulders, knees and toes!" She then dances around and shouts it again when we stop singing... Aren't the toddler years both the best and worst?! 🤣

I’m trying to get to grips photographing things indoors...so here’s a sunlit window ledge...💕 .
Anyone else attempting to step out of their photographic comfort zone? 🤔

An astrologer told me when I was 11 that I would never fall in love or have children and that I would die of blood poisoning. So let’s hope that because the first two were wrong, the last one will be too.
Maybe because of her prediction, this was never a life I expected for myself. I had never figured children in to my plans, I had never really expected to be in a long term relationship and I certainly never expected to become (essentially) a housewife.

I expected my life in my 30’s to be single, nomadic and career driven and I wound up with the opposite: living in a rural Yorkshire town, being a mother and looking after our home. I am fascinated by how things have turned out so unexpectedly, and It makes me wonder whether we truly have any control over how our lives pan out.
I’d like to make bold statements about where I go from here and how I am carving out space for my own work, but I kind of just feel like maybe I should just potter along, keep on doing my stuff and see what unexpected paths life will take me down. 🤷🏻‍♀️🌙💫⚡️
I’d love to hear from other people whose lives have turned out unexpectedly.... 💛

My mental list to #jumptoit this morning:
Get kids ready and Gryff to nursery for three hours
Organise the recycling
Make a fresh batch of muesli
Clean and tidy the boy’s bedroom
Maybe fit in some drawing?

My actual achievement:
Got Gryff to nursery
Organised the recycling
Did yoga instead of a walk
Made muesli
Hid from the rain all afternoon and drank cocoa

Not perfect but not bad. Got nowhere close to cleaning the boy’s room but I did manage to fit in a healthy amount of perusing the @metgala2019_ outfits.... 🤫

It’s back to normality around here today, but on the plus side, we’re well into May so the summer holiday countdown can begin in earnest! In other news, my new sofa bed is hopefully going to be in here next week! So excited to see how it looks, although equally terrified as it’s a vibrant colour I’ve gone for.. fingers crossed it works 🤞🏼 🙃
Have a great start to your new week everyone x [post contains previously gifted items which have been tagged]

Yes I may be posting a photo of flowers but what I’m really thinking about is Line of Duty and Game of Thrones 😭🤯 What the living hell will I watch or look forward to once GOT is over? 😰

This jug was a local charity shop find. I can’t resist a rummage, can you? I’m not good at trawling through clothes, though I’m sure that’s going to be a logical step as the renovation bites deeper and deeper into my reserves. But I have bric-a-brac down to a fine art and never lose the sense of excitement as I scan the shelves, wondering what will catch my eye and come home with me for a pound or two. What a perfect way to support a charity, cut down on landfill and add a little joy to your life, all at the same time! I love the colours in my new jug, which I’m guessing dates from the 30s (though please correct me if you know better!). The stylised flower reminded me of a dandelion, and what could be better on a grey day like today than to brighten things up with a whole bunch of them?

Ruis is now in a bed rather than a cot and I've already had the bedtime duty of getting into bed with her to get her to sleep...
Expectation: Will hold hands and she will slowly fall into a peaceful sleep, then I will quietly slip away and close the door.. Reality: Freezing cold under that tiny toddler duvet with my arse hanging out the side, pretty sure bed will collapse any second. Giggles loudly in my face whilst putting her fingers up my nose, in my ears and pointing at my eyebrows. Say "go to sleep now" 20 times before leaving the room in frustration to loud cries. *Continues to cry for hour*

Went to the shops this morning for boring essentials, got home gagging for a cup of tea, realised I’d forgotten milk. Thought with my idiotic baby brain it’s alright I’ll have a chai milk, obviously need a hella lot of milk for that 🤣 I settled for peppermint... we were out of peppermint so I had green tea. And neither of my children napped so I couldn’t enjoy it hot anyway. Moral of the story? These are the best anecdotes I have from zombie life with two tiny children so don’t bother reading my captions 😂 (Side note - my ficus is looking so so sad, someone help?!)
