  • Can you believe 80% of North America can’t see the Milky Way? So sad! Where we grew up, we only saw a few stars & the moon at night if we were lucky — and we knew no friends or family who ever viewed the Milky Way with their own two eyes. Needless to say, we didn’t wana be like the 80%, and decided to capture it for ourselves — and boy, was it breathtaking. Just one of the billion reasons why we moved to Colorado in the first place! (Swipe right to see the Milky Way). We’re not the best astrophotographers (nor do we wish to be 😂🙈), but we had a blast snapping photos in pitch black, figuring out how to do ‘light-painting’, and waiting for 30+ second exposures to capture one shot! 📸 Not to mention being all alone away from people in pitch black out in mountain lion, rattlesnake, black bear country! 😂🙈 Such a thrill & totally worth it though. The blanket of stars overhead was phenomenal and we’re lucky we get to see night skies like this whenever we want! 🌌 We just uploaded a blog post about our experience, tips & tricks, our process, and equipment to get these shots. Head to our blog (link in bio) to read all about it! 🙌

Shooting my shot at different things, going into stuff blind or just not really able to visualize certain things. Shooting Astro is always a pain since I never get to see what is happening until the end, but I miss doing it, it teaches you how to be humble no matter how many times you got it right before. I used to be a perfectionist until I had to realize that sometimes the first shot isn’t always the best shot. So I’d just readjust and keep going until something works out, lol.... at this point I ain’t gotta prove anything to anybody, just trying to hit my goals. Having a backup plan when going out to shoot is important, the weather has been rather bad for wind and cloud this year so I'm very happy I had a plan B.
