This week's #ThrowbackThursday is the Huawei Ascend D1.⠀
⠀
Released in July 2012, the Ascend D1 ran Android 4.0, but had several of Huawei's usual tweaks to the OS. The biggest tweak is a visual one; the icons were changed to completely unfamiliar icons, and the keyboard had a visual tweak. When swiping the home-screen to the app tray, the device by default would use an overwhelming and unnecessary flip animation.⠀
⠀
The dimensions of the handset are:⠀
⠀
Height: 129mm⠀
Width: 8.9mm⠀
Length: 64mm⠀
Screen size: 4.5 inches (67.6% screen-to-body ratio)⠀
Weight: 132g⠀
⠀
The Ascend D1 came with 8GB of internal storage, with only 5.8GB of this actually being available to the user after taking into account software size. The device has a microSD slot with expansion up to 32GB. With a front-facing and a rear-facing camera, the Ascend was perfect for weekend photographers and selfie-takers.⠀
⠀
With it's removable 1800mAh battery, the Ascend could theoretically last up to 400 hours on standby, or 10.5 hours of talk time. The Ascend was a cheaper mid-high tier phone than competitors at the time, as you'd expect from Huawei.⠀
⠀
Tune back tomorrow to see what Huawei have been up to in 2019!⠀
