  • #day365 , Hard to believe, but it& #039 ;s finally here. Day 365 of 365. One year journaled, in the books. It was incredible to be able to work while getting my oil changed, fitting something in most can& #039 ;t during the work week, recieve a really wonderful birthday letter from my company& #039 ;s CEO, exuding the pursuance of dreams, and finish the last doorway in the old home, that I symbolically got to walk through for the 1st time. The goal, from the very beginning, was always simple. Finish something I started, from beginning to end. Not just in the good times, but in the hard times, too. To keep my word, to myself. Something I have struggled to do with myself for a long time. I& #039 ;ve promised myself many things over the years. And consistently let myself down. Someone who prides themselves on being there for others at all costs, has never managed to be there for themselves. Year after year, goals with no finishing, ideas with no doing, dreams with no realization. But not this time. I& #039 ;m someone who uses birthdays as an oportunity to refocus, but have never really looked forward to a year ahead of me, until this one. Year 30 was challenging and rewarding in so many ways, but I know the is more. I expect year 31 to change me, but only because I& #039 ;ve asked for it. And I can say, with a confident smile, that I& #039 ;m ready. I& #039 ;m ready to get moving. #30 #project365 #365 #spartan #chicago #31 #awakened #ready #dreams #answers #findyourself #become #monday #newyou #justdoit #stepbystep #comfortzone #create #remember #letsgo #spark #signs #blessed #change #move #writersofinstagram #steps #ready #jump
  • #day365, Hard to believe, but it's finally here. Day 365 of 365. One year journaled, in the books.

It was incredible to be able to work while getting my oil changed, fitting something in most can't during the work week, recieve a really wonderful birthday letter from my company's CEO, exuding the pursuance of dreams, and finish the last doorway in the old home, that I symbolically got to walk through for the 1st time.

The goal, from the very beginning, was always simple. Finish something I started, from beginning to end. Not just in the good times, but in the hard times, too.

To keep my word, to myself. Something I have struggled to do with myself for a long time.

I've promised myself many things over the years. And consistently let myself down. Someone who prides themselves on being there for others at all costs, has never managed to be there for themselves. Year after year, goals with no finishing, ideas with no doing, dreams with no realization.

But not this time. I'm someone who uses birthdays as an oportunity to refocus, but have never really looked forward to a year ahead of me, until this one.

Year 30 was challenging and rewarding in so many ways, but I know the is more. I expect year 31 to change me, but only because I've asked for it. And I can say, with a confident smile, that I'm ready.

I'm ready to get moving.

  • Veteran’s Day doesn’t honor only United States veterans, but also those that have served around the world. Rather than focusing on the day itself, I wanted to pay tribute to one in particular. Joachim Ronneberg, a Norwiegan, was the last of a group of five men that infiltrated a hydroelectric plant in the city of Venmork in 1942 to sabotage a Nazi heavy water production that was a key ingredient in making an atomic bomb; the succeeded and escaped on skis over 300 miles with approximately 3000 Germans on their tail. Unfortunately, the Nazis quickly rebuilt and began cranking out the 10,000 gallons of heavy water, surviving an aerial attack and ultimately tried to move the water by tanker on a ferry down the fjords a year later. That ferry was ultimately sunk in the deep part of the water by the group, ending any hope of the Germans to get ahead of Allied Forces to make the bomb. After witnessing the power of the U.S. bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki—now a deep black mark in U.S. history, the Germans ultimately surrendered, fearing a similar attack on their own country as Allied Forces whittled down their strongholds on other countries. Joachim Ronneberg was 99 when he passed away two weeks ago, and ultimately I had conceived the piece at that time; Technically this would fall more under as a Memorial Day post, but seeing as how he passed just a short time before today, I want to mark this as a way for myself to thank him for saving countless lives and dealing a massive blow to what was then the greatest manufactured threat in human history with only a handful of men. If you want to read or see more, there have been many outlets to hear the story. There’s the 1965 Kirk Douglas film The Heroes of Telemark, the 1989 bio-history “Skis Against the Atom” written by Knut Haukelid who was one of those men, and a recent British Channel 4 series called the Saboteurs. . . . #illustration #history #veteransday #vector #veterans #thankyou #norway #truestory #art #atom #bomb #timelaspeart #timelapse #telemark #wwii #skis #mountain #nature #vectorart #heavy #water #allied #assemblyapp #monday #latenight #midnight #nightowl #neosquirrel
