Ainda quer fumar?

I seriously considered leaving clinical medicine many times in my early career. •

When I first graduated I started doing a medical rotation as a junior doctor and I wasn’t happy. I remember standing in a ward round with a consultant and he was asking us what we liked about being a doctor and I was thinking ‘nothing, this is a miserable job.’ •

There are two major decisions I’ve made in my career which were gamechangers. Neither of them was easy, and both of them were a risk at the time. •

The first was my change of speciality from medicine to ophthalmology. I had already invested 2 years of medical training and completed my postgraduate exams but I knew medicine wasn’t the right speciality for me. This was when I thought about leaving. Ophthalmology came to me for a number of reasons (for that see my recent post on #whymyspecialty ). I did my research, spoke to ophthalmologists but ultimately I had to take a risk to follow my gut as it was difficult to be sure it would be right for me. There was greater pressure to make the ‘right’ decision as I felt I had already ‘wasted time '. It worked out and I knew immediately once I started. •
.
The second important decision was to go part time after my first child- in the middle of my training. I was told it wasn't possible and nobody else had done it. I quietly persisted. Once I started I've never gone back. I realised pretty quickly that there can be too much of a good thing and the less clinical work I did the more I enjoyed it! I felt less tired and over worked so I could be more caring and empathic with patients. On a personal level it gave me the right balance to be with my children and as they have got a little older it gave me the opportunity to allow my global health career to flourish. •
.
Life is so much easier in retrospect but you can never go wrong if you're true to yourself and do what's right for you. •

Thanks @amandasximd for inviting me to share. •

Slow wind 🍃, beautiful atmosphere 🌸 and sunset 😍 can anytime set the moment worth taking a picture. 🌄
.
.
I know this is not a medical post but today I really wanted to share something that is worth reading. I read while scrolling down the Facebook's new feed, there was a post saying
𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴
Which starts up with a beautiful story and ends up with a great lesson that really inspired me and actually changed my perspective over such things..🤗
“Once a wise man visited where some people were complaining about the same problems over and over again. So, he decided to tell them a joke and they all roared with laughter.

After a few minutes, he told them the same joke and only a few of them smiled.

Then he told the same joke for the third time, but no one laughed or smiled anymore.

The wise man smiled and said: ‘You can’t laugh at the same joke over and over. So why are you always crying about the same problem?'”
.
And that's exactly true.. Every 8/10 person around you will be suffering from the same disorder i-e crying and complaining over the things over an over again.. Lemme asks one thing Is this type of behavior will solve everything? Will this bring everything back to normal? Obviously Never.. Have you ever thought by doing this, You are only wasting your time.. If you really want to change things around you then why not stand up on your feet and fight for it?? At least this will lead you to something really good.. And will eventually bring everything back to normal ✨
.
.
Stop Everything that you're doing for a minute and just think about what I said.. 😏
.
.
Much love and God bless ❤

This gel fills the affected area of an aneurysm, hardens and prevents any more blood from entering and expanding the aneurysm. (#A39)
-
Brand – EnduraGel by DCU, School of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering
-
Certification – Not currently FDA approved
-
Injected through a catheter, the hydrogel – made primarily of water, with a seaweed-derived polymer and microparticles making up the final components – can be fed up small tubes towards where the aneurysms occur. This approach does not require open surgery and therefore is a great deal safer than the traditional approach of placing fine platinum coils into the aneurysm to inhibit blood from entering the aneurysm.

.
.

👩🏻‍⚕️ Study tips for anatomy to help you retain information ℹ️ 👇👇
.
.
.
.
🧠 Don’t cram. Anatomy requires repetition.
Make the time to study by scheduling it in. The way to avoid the issue with cramming is to make studying a habit and continuously review the material.
.
__________________________ 💀 Start early. We’ve all been there... a few days before an exam, cramming all the information, wishing we had started earlier. The earlier you start the better chances you have of retaining the information.
.
__________________________
☠️Use flash cards. Anatomy is about memorizing the look of the structure and it’s name. Drawing takes too much time. So the more you see the object the more likely you’ll remember it’s name. Flash cards is also kind of like a game.
.
__________________________
👁Switch up the pictures. Use different sources to look at the pictures of the anatomical structures. Drawings vary so it’s essential to be able to recognize the structure in whichever book it is in. Try to look at the structures on real cadavers if possible. I use color atlas of anatomy (book or pdf) to see the muscles in real cadavers.

⠀
