Video and text by @BertieGregory | Having recently broken out of the den with their mother, these three-month-old polar bear cubs were unbelievably cute. But although they look small here, they were born much smaller. To learn more about these lovely little animals check out my new online series for National Geographic, ‘Wild_Life: The Big Freeze’. Watch it on National Geographic Youtube or visit natgeo.com/wildlife

Here’s a few different ways I like to explain and teach this way of shooting. .
. ▪️In today’s game, with the technology of the sticks, there are many different ways to shoot pucks effectively. Some players do well with pucks in front of their body, some do well with getting more on top of the puck and some players have to shoot different based off their blade lie and curve. At the end of the day, you need to understand the underlying principles of shooting and not get stuck thinking you can only shoot one way. In a game, you will be forced to shoot in all sorts of difficult and awkward positions and understanding the principles will be more beneficial in those situations then only understanding one pattern. .
.
▪️For this shot, I focus on bottom hand pressure, hands away from your body, finishing towards the net while avoiding too much upward rotation as well as getting your whole body into the shot. I like to say that shooting is something your whole body is doing, not just your arms.

Never ever have I seen pieces of ice at a beach before. When I did though for the first time I couldn’t stop staring at each little structure. I would walk around them in awe, observing how light and the pitch black sand create natural stark contrasts. I hope future generations will still be able to experience such incredible beauty.
