First (technically second) paid guitar job finished! My manager’s Squier Mustang with HEAVY electronic mods, roller trees, brushed chrome, and a matte wipe-on poly finish. Kurt Cobain’s 3-way switch, stacked 2 volume 1 tone setup with phase reversal for Jimmy Page tone possibilities. Original rhythm-only circuit and low cut switch kept intact. #fender #squier #guitarmods

I installed a Zero Glide nut on this Tele neck this morning. The guitar has a Bigsby and the nut is often the issue when it comes to tuning stability. The concept of the Zero Glide is a zero fret that the strings actually rest on. The other part of the nut is just to keep the strings properly spaced. I’ve been testing it with some pretty aggressive Vibrato abuse and it is staying in tune. I’m impressed! #robertwoodguitar #guitarmods #guitarrepair #zeroglide #tuningstability #telecaster

    Andrew’s mule take 2!
After some deliberation, it was decided that Andrew’s first #cheapstrat was too cheap- the neck was badly twisted. So we’ve replaced it with another FB market find, this cherry #squier Bullet #stratocaster. The thing came with a strap, a bag, the trem arm and wrenches still uninstalled, all for $60! Best of all, there’s no wear, and the neck is nice and straight. It will be an excellent start to a rewarding #cheapstratchallenge ! #knowyourtone #gearybusey #strat #guitarmods #squierbullet

#guitarmods Out goes the bastard heavy Ibanez body I’ve got currently and in comes a new alder one in blue. Will this need a bit of ageing to match my yellowed ‘76 guard and Maxon pickups? I think we know the answer to that question. #guitarproject #guitarmodification

Got my compensated tele saddles in the mail today from @stewmac_guitar ! The first step in modn' out my tele is almost under way. I think the small brass saddles against the silver, white, and black will be a really cool contrast! What do you think!? Check out my video link in my bio to see more of the guitar, what I have planned, and to offer your suggestions on mods! Any tips on adjustments? Setting intonation? As far as set ups I am a noob but I am excited to try it out!

    Still love you dusty Dan(electro).
Got this a few years back and couldn't help but start tinkering with it. Tone pot delete, CTS audio taper volume pot, relocated jack, witch hat nob, parallel wired when both pickups on (or is it series? I never get it the right way around). Tiny mods but this thing has sounded great ever since and probably cost me £150 all in.
Since then the tinkering has got pretty out of hand and this cheap and cheerful hardboard guitar bears a lot of the blame for re-awakening the obsession.

Damn... 😍 Love how this one turned out for @spijkgroenendijkmusic - This '82 Vantage Avenger used to be his dad's guitar. I love it when a guitar comes with a story. These Japanese Matsumoku don't sound bad at all, but there's always something about them that you can improve. I had the feeling that it some low-mid growl hiding in that body. The neck and the frets were in good condition to begin with. Truss rod to adjust the neck worked. This is always the first thing I check. Especially on guitar that have been sitting in a corner for years. - I've been exploring the mysterious ways of resonance for years on my own guitars and took one of my modified Gibson bridges and mounted it on to the old bridge plate. The thing I keep in mind is that I'd like to keep the option of reversing the modification if the person would like that. So we keep the original plate in tact and just drill two tiny holes to keep the new bridge in place. I had this super cool looking Guild slanted tailpiece, but never found the right guitar for it until now! I took out the 15Kohm humbucker and put in a handwound 70's style 7.5Kohm humbucker by 4 seasons pickups. This is what a humbucker should sound like to me. Raunchy, full and dynamic like Malcolm Young's sound in Let There Be Rock. I made the controls as easy as possible. One 250Kohm volume pot and a 500Kohm pot tap one of the coils. I think a lower output humbucker sounds richer with a 250K pot. It always seems to miss something with a 500K pot to my ears. Love how it growls with a set of 011's on there. Deep rich harmonics and yet with a snappy attack. Love the looks of it too. A single coat of yellow stain and a thin layer of nitro makes it shine like honey in the sunlight. My kinda machine. ⚡ ⚡ ⚡ ⚡ ⚡ #guitarmods #guitarrepair
