‪This is my first guitar, a Squier Affinity Strat that I got for my birthday 17 years ago. Finally learning/taking an interest in guitar maintenance and upgrades. Replaced the stock nut with a Black TUSQ and installed Ratio Locking Tuners. So far, she still seems to play! ‬

I just love Graphtech products, proud to be using them for a very long time! Not gonna stop using them. The only thing i haven't tried is the Ghost system, but i am sure that kicks ass as well!!!

The face that you instinctively make when someone comes up and requests a song that you’ve never heard of in your entire life....

    ESP JH-1 Replica

This one belongs to Freddy of Moretallica. It came in with a bit of a snagging list and just for a general setup.
First thing I noticed on playing it was that the inlays were raised up from the fingerboard - as this is a replica I wondered if they were stickers or not until I actually removed the strings and had a closer look and could see they were inlays. I tested the smallest one first up at the bridge end of the neck and once realising that they shaved down pretty well, I went up and down the neck and shaved each inlay with a razor blade until it couldn’t be felt under the fingers when playing.

I then polished all of the fretwire and oiled the fingerboard.
The next issue was the toggle switch that pointed slightly the wrong way so didn’t give that intuitive tactile feeling when changing pickups, so I loosened the collar Nut and with some persuasion, coaxed in into a better position.

Also the bridge volume control was not functioning well. When turned to max or down to min as it would stop and then carry on turning. Thankfully it was an issue with the knob itself and not the pot. So I fashion more of an interference fit for the knob so it eliminated that problem but is totally fine to remove the knob if ever needing to be taken off.
After I had dialled in a great setup, it was clear the Nut slots were too low. I contacted Freddy who agreed we needed to replace the Nut for a TUSQ XL Graphtech one.
It took quite a bit of shaping but we got there with it and now everything is playing great. I’m sure this guitar will now feature a bit more in their live shows 💪🤘 www.the-setup-shop.co.uk
