  • Perspective is everything! -

Typically three and a half weeks after a show if I looked back at old pics like the ones on the left I would be missing my lean post show physique and impatiently be waiting to get back on a contest diet and into silly shape. But because of my car accident (not at all my fault) my perspective has changed. -

After seeing the pic on the right my PT pretty bluntly told me I was lucky to be alive having gotten into a head on collision with a one ton truck. Hearing him explain that had I or the other driver been going any faster I would likely still be in the hospital or even dead was a real slap to the face of how fragile life really is and how important it is to really live in the moment. -

With that being said now my mindset is in a place of gratitude knowing that eventually I will be fully recovered from the injuries I sustained to my back and neck. I am also grateful to have a much more clear understanding of how important it is to live a life you love and to do so with people that love you. With that said I cannot wait to be fully recovered from all of this, eventually back in the gym, and finally having the belief and support to chase my goals relentlessly. -

    My accident was a scary scary thing for me but moving forward I see it as the beginning of a life we always dreamed of creating. #blessed #thankful #positivevibes #bodybuilding #eatclean #diet #fitness #flex #fitspo #fitchicks #fitnessmotivation #girlswholift #girlswhosquat #girlswithmuscle #gains #ifbb #npc #fitfam #strogwomen #liftheavy #lifting #transformation #figure #bikini

  • So let’s talk about our knees coming inwards during the squat, why we don’t want it to happen, why it’s not necessarily as bad as a lot of people imagine it to be, and how to counter this issue.
    -
So I couldn’t find a single study that shows a direct correlation between knee valgus collapse during a squat and acl injuries, however there’s numerous studies showing that knee valgus collapse in field sports can (and do) lead to injury. So right off the bat, we know it’s definitely not something we want to happen. It’s not your strongest position to be in during a squat and if done repeatedly it more than likely will lead to an injury of sorts, more than likely not short term, but potentially long term.
    -
If occasionally, when lifting near maximal loads you have a slight inwards knee twitch, it’s nothing to worry about. If you find your knees consistently collapsing inwards, Further than your hips, it’s time to become more conscious of it and to take the time to fix it.
    -
So how exactly can we go about fixing it? It’s often down to weak glutes, hamstrings, and hips, so start there. Something as simple as some stretching and warming up a little more before squats could help. Some extra accessory movements such as good morning, hip thrusts, reverse hypers could well help strengthen these weaker muscles, helping you keep those knees pushed out. Also, things like taking a slightly wider stance and trying low bar as opposed to high bar can help.
    -
So all in all, be conscious of it, don’t worry too much if you have a slight knee twitch from time to time, and just get stronger. Getting stronger is a great way to not get injured when done correctly 💪🏼

If anyone has anything to add or any experience with this, please drop me a DM or comment, because it’s something I’m interested in learning more about.

  • 1 years difference. Was supposed to be for transformation Tuesday. Oh well winning Wednesday it is. 5 kilos heavier than I was this time last year and my conditioning has been loyal.
