So, waterbox has really fallen off, and I honestly don't understand why. This archetype has so much potential in standard right now, due to how prevalent a deck like blacephalon is. This deck works as 1 unit, meaning all components come into play here, but the big one is quagsire. This card has gotten quite a bit of notoriety with naganadel recently because of its ability to move water energy from the bench to the active. Naturally, this works extremely well with a card like aqua patch which attaches discarded water energies to any of your benched water pokemon, but how do we get water in the discard pile? We always have acro bike and ultra ball to give us some card advantage when needed, but the primary source is volcanion prism star who discards water energies with its ability, while disrupting the opponents board state. So what do we attach these water energies too? Well the best answer is a card like lapras to constantly spam blizzard burn for a consistent stream of 190 damage, when you have a choice band attached. Since you can't use blizzard burn twice in a row, we play cards like switch raft and escape rope to get it out of the active slot and than use quagsire to attach those energies from the previous active to the new one. The baby kyogre from celestial storm is a great 1 prize attacker that deals nice spread and a solid 120 damage, and if you want an all out nuke that isn't weak to grass, palkia gx has a great attack if you just want to blow up your opponent. Finally, if we need to keep energy in play, you can easily spec in to exp share for that niche and it should go without saying that this deck plays brooklet. Water box gas always been a very interesting deck that has floated around in standard, but I think with the right pilot and list, this deck can wash out the competition. #nintendo #gamefreak #creaturesinc #gameboy #pokemon #pokemonredandblue #pokemongoldandsilver #pokemonxy #pokemonsunandmoon #pokemontcg #forbiddenlight #solgaleo #lunala #necrozma #mew #zoroark #ultranecrozma #pokemoncards #zygarde #xerneas #yveltal #greninja #pikachu #froakie #lapras #volcanion #quagsire

Wow, what in the hell happened to this deck? Magcargo was an extremely hyped up deck coming from lost thunder, with Japanese tournament results to back it up, so how has it fallen so far from it's brief period of grace? While magcargo can deal some very devastating damage, there just so happened to be another fire type gx that came out in the same set and did the same amount of damage. Yup, this thing had to face competition straight out of the gate from blacephalon gx, and if you know the state of standard right now, you'll know that it got downright annihilated by the cake pop. Simply put, blacephalon is just a much more consistent deck than magcargo could ever hope to be and just offered enough to the meta that eventually led it to become one of the major players in it. Due to the general nature of magcargo, the deck takes a ton of setup to get going, needing cards like ditto prism star to help bypass the fact that you play more magcargo than slugma, mallow which sacrifices your draw supporter for the turn to get more damage and a bevy of cards to get your energies back from the discard such as victini prism star and energy recycler system. Plus, with the surge in popularity that swampert and super boost energy have gotten from alolan ninetales gx and the relevance of a card like quagsire in standard, magcargo just doesn't have an easy time recovering from big kos as blacephalon does and that very much cripples the deck in the long run. Don't get me wrong, magcargo is still a very fearsome deck in standard, capable of getting some pretty impressive victories in a unique way, however it just goes to show how volatile the western standard can be to a deck that was acclaimed in Japan. #nintendo #gamefreak #creaturesinc #gameboy #gba #ds #3ds #pokemon #pokemonredandblue #pokemongoldandsilver #pokemonrubyandsapphire #pokemondiamondandpearl #pokemonblackandwhite #pokemonxy #pokemonsunandmoon #pokemontcg #forbiddenlight #solgaleo #lunala #pokemoncards #magcargo #pikachu #mewtwo #magikarp #dragonite #eevee #charizard #zeraora
