    Recently I’ve been working on making my space as comfortable as possible, not just for my clients, but for me as well. My main aim was just to get it up and running. Somewhere to work. A warm, comfy space where people would feel at ease and be able to switch off from the world outside. It also needed to be practical, there still needs to be space to assess, practice and demonstrate. I’ve got plans to make this the ideal space for what I do and how I work, and I’ve made a good start. It’s a work in progress and hopefully the space will develop and evolve as my massage practice does. I’ve been thinking about the basics, I believe that when all the small elements come together, the overall picture has a bigger effect.
    .
    I’ve got a big window with natural light. When the window is open there are the sounds of the weather and the birds outside.
    .
    For evening sessions I’ve got plenty of low-level lighting to keep circadian rhythms in check. This helps the ability to sleep, to think clearly and helps to regulate hormones that deal with blood pressure and glucose levels.
    .
    I’ve read a few articles about the visual effects of nature on the brain. There have been studies carried out that show a more positive response to pictures of nature versus pictures of cities. I’ve covered one wall with a huge mural to enhance this effect, to try and trigger the senses in that primal connection to nature that often lays dormant for too long.

    I’ve got a fair bit of greenery in! All of these are on the list created by NASA as part of the clean air study. The idea is for these plants to filter and remove toxins from the air. Like I said, I’m thinking about the basics and it doesn’t get more basic than the air we breathe and how we breathe it!

    This might even sound a bit out there for sports massage but looking after the body effectively takes a holistic approach. These factors add up to help your body deal with the injury or tension that brought you in. If the world around you or the space you’re in plays a part in how you feel then it must play a part in how you heal. It’s about taking the body and brain back to basics and building back up from healthy foundation.

    Something I made up last week and been playing around with. My one hand handy stands are getting so much better from doing it this way too yay ✨ I held a long one (for me) today but couldn’t do it again for video BUT IT’S OK any progress is great progress ❣️ also I love this song so much I need it on iTunes and I want to play on my hoop for hours with it on replay ✨✨✨
