This is one of my images from my ‘Emotions’ series, called ‘Humble’. In these series I focussed primarily on the character, elegance, power and nobleness of the horse. Find more of my series on claireonline.nl/fineart. #fineart #emotions #photography #horse

_______________________________________________“Lake Ashi in the Hakone Hills, in Early Autumn” | By: Tsuchiya Koitsu (1870-1949)
_______________________________________________
Created in 1938, this incredibly colourful shin-hanga print accurately depicts the magnificent beauty of Lake Ashi in early autumn, an extremely picturesque time of the year as well as the area being known for the view of Mt. Fuji and scenic boat rides.
In fact Lake Ashi is said to be one of the most beautiful lakes in the whole world. It lies in the caldera of Mount Hakone, formed over 200,000 years ago due to an volcanic eruption. It stretches about 8km long and is surrounded by mountains on all sides.
Tsuchiya Koitsu is a well-known artist of the shin-hanga “new prints” movement, but not among the trendy names like Hasui (1883-1957) Ito Shinsui (1898-1972) or Natori Shunsen (1886-1960).
Tsuchiya Koitsu specialized in landscape images. His beautiful prints are of excellent quality and a good buy for collectors of Japanese twentieth century prints.
