Some of my story stones. These are at our writing table as we are exploring characters this term.

Some I drew and painted then sealed with a spray varnish/sealer. Others I used stickers and modge podge. Modge podge is available from craft outlets. It’s a water based glue/sealer similar to PVA glue.
The rocks are from Bunnings hardware in the landscaping supplies.

Sometimes children use just one stone and write a character description and sometimes they choose a couple to write a story.

We spoke about Good Friday yesterday - how Jesus died on the cross for us & was resurrected on Sunday. He was very curious about the resurrection. He asked how could this be possible & said it'd nice if his 'gong-gong' (gramp) can do this too. 😅😅 I wished that too, my snuggle-bunny!! .
.
So today, on Good Friday, we decided to play the game he's been waiting for - the Easter Egg Hunt! .
.
𝕃𝕖𝕥 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕙𝕦𝕟𝕥 𝕓𝕖𝕘𝕚𝕟.... . .
.
24 eggs with 24 Math quizzes in it + 3 carrots - addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fraction & decimal - all in one basket; in one game. Each colour eggs has different points. .
.
Before I could tell him the rules, he beat me to it. He asked for rules, timing of hunt & area of hunt. 😂 .
.
𝘾𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙋𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧! Good job on this, baby!! . .
.
When it's time to tally up the score, he asked to do a 6-tier addition instead of breaking it into smaller chunks. D had done 3-tier addition; the max he went. Since he's keen to challenge himself; I don't see why not?? 😁
.
𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘂𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘂𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀!

The girls are absolutely loving this Roll it! Find it! Cover it! game by @thisreadingmama. When I get them to do the exact thing without making it into a game, they whinge and whine but playing this game, they sit there quietly and with full focus because they want to win a Bingo line! 🙌 Thanks for making #learningthroughplay so much easier @thisreadingmama!!

冬至快乐 This was a good activity to get the kids away from the tv! And while they’re sitting quietly making the balls, they’re listening to me talk about winter solstice. But we’re in Australia and it’s summer so they were slightly confused 🤔

First day of school holidays. My lack of organisational skills means the kids will be involved in lots of practical life activities to keep them occupied. Downside 👎: I’ve had to dig out egg shells from the scramble eggs and clean raw eggs on the floor. Upside 👍🏻: I have someone cook scramble eggs, make coffee and wash the dishes for me! I’m predicting that by the end of this 6 weeks school holidays, I won’t have to lift a finger 🤔. What do you think?

It’s Christmas writing time! The girls wrote their letters to Santa today and also some Christmas cards to our families who live overseas. Next stop: post office to get stamps. Hopefully these cards will reach our international recipients before Christmas! 🎄

Dates are very important for Miss E this month because it’s her birthday and she is counting down! Perfect time to introduce dates and numbers more than 10 in Chinese! She has an English calendar already so she got it straight away.
