While I use plugins a lot for writing and recording when it comes time to do the final guitar tracks I always crank up the amps. I switched to a rack rig with stereo power amps back in the early 90’s and haven’t looked back. While I love traditional amps, the rack set up gives me way more flexibility than I’ll ever need. The Marshall Valvestate 8008 was my 1st power amp and while I don’t use it much these days it may see some use with the Rocktron Gainiac (clean side) for some doom metal. My Marshall 9200 dual mono block was my 2nd power amp and my 1st pro-level power amp. It’s an absolute monster that I used live and for years. I paired it with a Digitech 2120 Artist and it was my main rig for years. These days it handles my clean tones. When it comes to bringing the heavy, my destroyer of worlds, the Mesa Boogie rig gets cranked up. The Simul-Class 2:90 and Recto-Recording preamp (along with some other goodies is a fire breathing dragon of destruction. For what I like, there’s nothing that gets the tones I want short of a Fortin. This is purely personal preference, find what makes the magic for you and crush🤘
