    Digital Minimalism.
One thing that I was always struggling with is the constant connectivity and never-ending connection with the whole world by the small device that everyone has in his/her pocket. I am an early adopter and love to try new things, but I feel like this this has gotten out of hand a little bit.
When we stayed in Zanzibar for 10 days, we watched other families and we saw so many examples, where whole families were caught behind this tiny screen all day and all night, standing at the beautiful beach, bending their heads down to watch some online content.
Mindfulness may be a very trendy issue right now, but at this moment in December, I realised, that for our and future generations it will be hard to stay in the moment and enjoy, what is actually happening around you, when you have this constant stream of notifications, messages and distractions, that will pull you out of what you are experiencing right now.
Why should I care about some likes or comments or things other people are posting, if at the same time I am losing time on more precious things like friends, family; actual sense, taste and experience of my surroundings.

Cal Newport, a computer scientist, who also wrote the brilliant book „Deep Work“ about focusing in a more and more confusing world, released his new book „Digital Minimalism“ a few days ago and it is just brilliant. It is not a simple list of things that are bad with digitalisation, but a deep sociological (and economical) analysis of the function, inner works and triggers of the modern digital distractions.
He proposes the process of „Digital Declutter“ in 30 days to do some kind of tabula rasa on things like „check Spiegel online headlines“ or „endlessly scroll instagram feed“ or „regularly check for new likes on FB post“ and then restart everything fresh.

    I’ll be offline for the next 30 days, and I will report afterwards (if I will still use instagram). #minimalism #digitalminimalism #calnewport #simplifyyourlife #lifechanging #modernlife #focus #mindfulness #offline #simplifymagazine #newroutine #experiment #minimalist #deepwork #declutter #whatmatters #experience #socialmedia #irony #digitaloverload #book #reading

If you Google, ‘Declutter Challenge’, multiple ideas will be thrown your way! From taking you through your home room by room, to eliminating x amount of things a day – there are so many challenges to keep you accountable and fun along the way!

Whichever option you choose, it’s a lot of fun to try to get through the challenge and see the progress along the way. Even better if you can join a “live challenge” where people are checking in with their progress.

When you clutter your life with toxic relationships or generally relationships that do not help to grow you or make you better in every aspect of your life, you become somewhat like the room in the image. And Elenour is right you will become immobilized, stagnate or begin to drown in your own life. This kinds of relationships not only bring you stress but they ruin your self-esteem, kill your value system, make you fearful, disrespectful and not just to others but yourself and even suicidal.

    Question:
Do you trust that person, are they mindful of you, are you able to thrive with them around, are they real but loving with you, do they consider you better than themselves, do they encourage, appreciate and listen to you?

So, quick as a flash, Valentine’s Day is over and we are well and truly into 2019. Despite our best intentions, some of those New Year’s resolutions may have fallen by the wayside....particularly the one where we commit to getting our home decluttered and in order before /when the kids are back at school😝 All is not lost! Contact Jane to hear about the decluttering packages on offer at Clutter Box: [email protected] www.clutterboxsa.co.za #declutter #konmarimykids #marikondo #minimalism #organisedhomes #organised #tidycupboards #happymom

I'm decluttering a few things... It's time. A lot of these were beloved but past their prime, a handful were sadly languishing in my drawers, a couple were duds (for me), and some were from brands I don't prefer to support. I think I have one JS liquid lip I can't part with, but the rest is going bye-bye. #thankunext

#chapter31 'A high quality of life has much more to do with what we remove from it than what we add to it.'
    .
The past year was all about decluttering. Everything that didn't serve me, that wasn't sincere, uplifting or needed I had to let go to create space for the new.
    .
I was offered jobs, a study, beautiful opportunities and I said no. Because it all didn't feel completely aligned with the inner me. I had to say goodbye to people, to jobs, to comfort zones, to clothing and shoes (thank you @mariekondo) to create the life that feels true to me.
    .
I had no guarantees and went to India because thát was what excites me. I feel attracted to healing, to movement, to breathwork, to nutrition, to being true and vulnerable. A part of my interests I was able to explore there.
    .
So much more happened the past year but the main thing I learned is to let go and create. To surrender to what is, to accept particular situations and emotions and to grow from it.
    .
Every day is a day to remove what no longer serves you. Every moment is a moment to make new choices that feel aligned with You. 🎇 Feeling grateful for every experience and more than excited for the coming year 🌻❤🌸
