Praising Jesus for much higher than my typical blood oxygen saturation rates the last 2 weeks! I know it is in part due to the gloriously cool and dry weather except for just a couple of rainy and damp days when I stayed mostly inside , but also I am confident that my lungs are continuing to slowly heal after illness November.. even on the rainy days my resting rate was a little higher than what I normally have. On a really good day it is 92 but I have registered briefly between 94 and 97.
I use pursed lip breathing , in the left pic, which enables me to have a better gas exchange.. my lung disease is primarily obstructive which means I can’t exhale old air from my lungs normally. By breathing in new air through my nose and slowly exhaling through pursed lips , I have lessened shortness of breath and I can keep my oxygen saturation rate a little higher. With moderate and heavier exertion it will dip down below 90 which is why I need oxygen therapy either during heavier exertion, to protect my organs from damage , especially my heart, and or after for several hours afterwards. My heart is weaker and more sensitive since my illness 2 years ago , and I am at a modest risk of stroke due to an arrhythmia; I have a slightly enlarged heart and am on several heart medications and carry a “ pill in the pocket “ anti stroke drug in the event my heart goes into full blown arrhythmia. My cardiologist cautioned and reminded me ,at my last checkup and EKG , to use the pictured oximeter to check my oxygen and heart rate more frequently than I had been doing, especially with heavier exertion. I try to listen to my own body and not rely on the meter but now I feel safer by checking my rates more often.
On beautifully cool, dry and sunny days like we mostly have had the last few weeks, I can better do the needed outdoor property cleanup and maintenance that I enjoy doing myself so much; I also have more overall energy and better breathing to take care of all my daily tasks at home and out and about groceries shopping and running errands.. I am incredibly so thankful to God days when my lungs feel so much stronger!

No filters, just the beginning of the morning practices/rituals. 🔥
The moon was behind the clouds. The cold wind was moving the trees.
The rain started to fall, and thoughts kept coming and going.
    Coming back to the breath.
Discovering the lightness of dissolving in air.
The oxygen going in, enlightening the cells, reminding that life is here, always.
    Light as a feather.
    Sharp and focused.
    And the daylight comes.
There is no way that one can hide.
Because the truth is all around us, and within you.
May we all speak words of truth today.
May we all be truth today.
    And always.

When my mind is silenced, I hear the thoughts of my SOUL. Some are louder than others. Some repeat themselves. Repeatedly. Nonetheless, they are heard.⠀

I am falling in love with the sounds of my soul.⠀

My mind likes to dominate the conversation. Analysis and rationalization are his first language. Over-analyzing is his M.O. My mind hogs the microphone, pressing it as close to his lips as possible. Screaming to the back of the room. His words revurberate. When he doesn't get the reaction he is craving, he trades the microphone for a megaphone. This will get the attention. All.the.Attention. ⠀

My soul covers her ears. Where are the earplugs? How can I get out of this room? She tries to escape, but the crowd is too dense. She closes her eyes. She inhales; she exhales. Deeply. Maybe if she focuses within, she can drown out the chaos that entraps her. ⠀

With each inhale, she breathes in a bit more peace. With each exhale, she releases a bit more tension. She accepts her surroundings. She embraces this place. ⠀

And soon the room is silenced. She sits in this space, fully aware of all of her senses. She is grounded in the center of the room, and at the same time she floats above it all. She breathes in life, and exhales that which is dead. ⠀

With her feet on the ground, she soars.⠀

She embraces this place. This space. She embraces herself, just as she is. ⠀

    She embraces this life.⠀

    Awareness. Acceptance. Serenity. ⠀

Today’s intro to mindfulness class was on mindfulness of the breath. The breath is life. When we attune to the breath, just in that attunment we begin to see impermanence, as the breath changes, sensations of the breath change. We can also see unsatisfactoriness, when the breath is not comfortable and we can see that it’s not personal, because the body breathes by itself. We see that sometimes the breath is pleasant, there can be a sense of ease, peace and joy. all of life reflected in the breath. It’s fascinating.🙏 #mindfulnessofbreathing #mindfulnessofbody #awareness #mindfulness #buddhadharmasangha #breathislife #wbmindfulness
