I ACTUALLY CAN 💪💪 HELLO Fitgirl World 🌎! I'm back and ready to get back into the swing of things after a long hiatus! 🕵️‍♀️ Well since the last time i participated in a FGG challenge so much has changed in my life.
I'm a mom now! 🤱 My babygirl Emberleigh is 9.5 months old now and brings so much love into my world.♥️ She definitely keeps me on my toes and has taught me so much in so little time. I'm am so in love with my babygirl but not always am I in love with my new "mom bod" It has taken me all day to get up the nerve to post these progress pictures. I remember being nervous the first time I ever posted progress pictures for @fitgirlsguide and this time it's sooo much more nerve wracking. I have more to work on this go round and stretch marks and a mom bod! I'm not all that comfortable in my skin right now. But I don't want to have excuses anymore and not to work on me. I don't want to compare myself to the old Brooke because that girls gone! 👋 I know I'll never have the body I had before but this body,my body, has created life and is strong. So I'm going to give it my all this round, make some changes in how I show myself love and prove that #IActaullyCan 💪 #beforephotos #postpartumbody #fitgirlsguide #fitmom #mombod #breastisbest #progressnotperfection #selflove #learntolovemyself #momlife #28daychallenge #fitgirl #selfimprovement #loveyourself #growth

It's normal to bleed for weeks following delivery and the type of delivery you had (vaginal or cesarean) doesn't determine the length of your bleeding. I bled for six weeks with a c-section and for four weeks with a vaginal birth and both babies were exclusively breastfed! Every birth is different BUT if your bleeding seems like it stops and then comes back suddenly, you may be pushing yourself too hard -- remember that you need to heal, too. ❤️

“This scene is not how our nursing journey began.
    .
Between her severe tongue and lip tie and multiple procedures to correct them and my body reacting with excruciating vasospasms making me dread every single nursing session, we started our journey with lots and lots of tears between the two of us and not knowing if I could continue. I spent months preparing my body to nurse. My husband knew that this would be a special thing for us if I could just get past this part so he was constantly encouraging me through it.
    .
This has been a very healing experience for me. My body has been able to nourish her and help her grow...something I had no part in before she came to us. In an area where my body had failed me time and time again it was finally doing something wonderful.
    .
Sometimes I wonder if I should even be sharing something so personal but then I remember that the only reason this was even possible for me is because a woman shared it with me years ago. So I do it for the woman reading this who didn’t know this was possible, maybe feeling that her body is broken and is losing hope in ever being able to have an experience that comes so easily for others. First of all, you are perfect the way you are and nursing or even being able to give birth are not the things that define a mother, but I see you. I have felt that too.
    .
This is something I wanted to do for US. And it was a good choice for our family. I know not all mommas choose to nurse or can nurse and that is most certainly ok.
Let’s #normalizebreastfeeding but let’s also normalize supporting mothers because really - we are all just doing our best.”

It’s 8:30pm and I haven’t had dinner yet 🤦🏻‍♀️...shocker. Kara girl is being EXTRA cranky tonight (YAY 😣), but I’m getting HANGRY so on the hip she goes!

Now she’s content as can be...for now 😬.

I know it’s a little late but yeah🤷🏻‍♀️. Alicia looks too cute😍🤗! She’s such a natural📸. As soon as I took her jacket off she turned around and walked on set. Alicia literally walked up to the heart, looked at us and posed🤩!

🤱 I was blessed to have breastfed my 1st child for 13 months and my second child (while I was going through a divorce) for 18 months. It was difficult at times and I often thought about quitting because my supply was low. But I never gave up and it worked out very well. I used mother’s milk tea during those low supply times and I made sure I ate a nutritious diet and rested as much as possible.

There are numerous studies about the benefits of breastfeeding, and here are some of the benefits I can personally attest to experiencing:
💕Postpartum weight loss 💕Bonding with my babies
💕A general feeling of peace and calm (I always fell asleep while they were feeding)
    💕Financial savings (Formula is expensive)
💕Less sick visits to the Pediatrician (my youngest had zero sick visits in her first 2 years of life) 💕More sleep!! 💫I realize that not all mothers are able to breastfeed, but if you are a mother who can, please consider it!💫 #breastfeeding #breastisbest #mothersmilk #savemoney #singlemom #singlemother #motherhood #meal #babies #welcometothemotherhip #health #inspiration #power #youcandoit

Hope everyone had a great Valentine’s Day full of love & laughter. 💛💛💛💛
••TOPIC OF THE WEEK: STORAGE•• Go Momma! You finally have a great supply stash going, and you’re unsure if the milk you have is safe to give your young calf. Here are tips/guidelines on storing your milk safely. *I personally do the 555 rule: 5 hrs room temp., 5 days in the fridge, & 5 months in the freezer.*
When I thaw milk, I thaw it in the back of the fridge (keep away from doors) for 12 hrs. I will then pour out what I need into a bottle, only warm up what’s in the bottle. The remainder will be on the fridge until the next morning. Try to use within 24hrs of thawing. REMEMBER, SWIRL IT, 🚫DONT SHAKE!

👩‍👧‍👧This tea saved me during my 5 consecutive years of breastfeeding (1 of which was tandem feeding both my girls!!).🤪 Being a working mama, I occasionally needed to spend time away from my babies.  Milk waned during these long hours, so boost my supply when I came back to them, I brewed a strong cuppa this magic and voila! 💖Full supply back by morning. 😍 Every time. 🤰Developed with the help of midwives during my own pregnancy, this herbal magic is waiting for you breastfeeding mamas and mamas-to-be.🤗And it makes an excellent, useful, thoughtful baby gift.🐣 #normalizebreastfeeding #nilorganictea

Eat Local is a breastfeeding photography project based out of Iowa to normalize and celebrate breastfeeding.
The women who will be portrayed have in some way breastfed their babies at some point. They each have a story to tell and they each have struggled or succeeded in very unique ways.
They have volunteered to be photographed breastfeeding or with their breastfed babies to show the world what "normal" breastfeeding looks like. Because guess what!
There is no normal when it comes to breastfeeding. Each journey with each new child is completely unique to the one before and the one after it. These are real women sharing their experiences! 📸@hippiechique
