  • Children are not miniature adults. Children’s sports and games are extremely popular throughout the world. They deserve knowledgeable, professional coaches and trainers to work with them. The challenges presented by exercise to growing children and mature adults may appear similar, but they are based on fundamentally different mechanisms. The child’s immature temperature, regulatory, skeletal, and nervous systems are often unable to tolerate the same level of physical stress as the mature adult. Young children can not learn motor skills as rapidly as adults or achieve the same degrees of physical fitness. During adolescence however potential improvements in exercise may exceed those of any other time of life. Exercise is important during growth. It contributes to a better-developed functional capacity and can enhance neural and musculoskeletal development. Exercise habits established during childhood and adolescence will carry over to adulthood. Physical performance in chikdren and adolescence must always be assessed in light of the growth process. Growth involves a series of remarkably similar developmental stages in all people. Individual differences in diet, exercise, and health may affect these stages to a certain extent, but the pattern remain the same. Each stage has a profound influence on individual capability for physical performance. Attempts to rush the developmental process are futile and may lead to physical and emotional harm. #brandxmethod #mikkimartin #sports #kids #kidsfirst #healthyhabits #growth #physicalfitness #coaching #athletes #habits #patterns #growth #development #training #youthathletics #adaptivefitness #prevention #healthiswealth

  • Strength can be called a general adaptation because getting stronger allows to you express better athleticism. If power is strength displayed quickly, how can we ask an athlete to express what they simply don& #039 ;t possess? Therefore, increases in strength will always result in increasing power. As my friend, Jeff Martin of @thebrandxmethod posted this week, "...sport specific training can only optimize the current available strength of the athlete for sport specific use". Strength isnt a specific adaptation because it results in increases in performance in other physical skills. Its general. #strengthbias #strengthbiastraining #tbxm #brandxmethod #strength #strong #crossfit
