Today the CrossFit Kids completed #Murph which is an extremely challenging workout. With this in mind, we scaled the original rep scheme to reach an appropriate stimulus for this age group. It’s safe to say we got an AWESOME workout in 😎
Our workout consisted of a 10 minute AMRAP:
50 meter run 
5 pull ups
10 push ups
15 air squats
These kiddos absolutely crushed their workout today💪

    MEMBER OF THE MONTH

Ben Wade

This week we are spotlighting our April Member of the Month who is one of our newest teens, Ben.

Ben joined us earlier in the year has shown tremendous attitude to training since he began at the start of the year.

Ben has a background in gymnastics and trampolining which cut that short.

He wanted to try something different so he was recommended FSM to get some coached strength and conditioning training.

In Ben's own words: " I joined FSM at the start of February, I knew I wanted to get fitter but did not have the motivation to go to a regular gym and use machines.

I heard about FSM through a friend and I am so glad I did. There is an amazing community that was and still is, so welcoming, kind and understanding. The community at FSM is something that sets it apart from other gyms.

I naturally had good upper body strength but then broke my arm on the trampoline, lost lots of strength and never regained it until I joined FSM.

Without the classes, I wouldn't be where I am today. Having other people there doing the same thing really helps with your motivation and keeps you going"

Ben has great potential and is coming on leaps and bounds since he began with us. He has put his focus in the gym, is very attentive and has put in alot of hard work in such a short space of time.

Well done Ben, we are sure you are going to have a big future at FSM.

    Role models for Our kids are Huge and as Parents we are the first and most important as our children look to us everyday. I’m all about encouraging MOVEMENT for LIFE for Kids and the Youth. This then leading to them living a healthy life and reap the benefits that physical activity has on their mental and physical health. If you’re a parent and have decided to make a change as you’re inspired by your kids and you’ve started your fitness journey that’s AWESOME! 😎👍🏽

It is also important as parents not to COMPLAIN about physical activity or treat it like a CHORE and especially in front of our kids. They will eventually pick up on your reactions and associate movement as a negative.

When I first started in the gym in my late teens ideally it was to get fit for competitive rugby with a whopping weight of 124kgs 👀 I was guilty of this myself having the mindset of turning upto the gym as punishment or a quick fix because of my food options from the weekend 🍔🍩🍦🍭🍫🍬🥤🍻🥃 or that takeaway I had for lunch or that meat pie, snickers and coke from the lunch truck. 🤦🏽‍♂️ Now with over 10 years of just training and learning along my own journey that this is just apart of who I am because it’s one of my VALUES! #faithfamilyfitness
.
But what if as a Parent you don’t want to get into the gym or life is just too busy to make time to get active? That’s ok that’s your choice but do you really want that for your children? Or do we want them to be better and give them the best start to life at a young age. Maybe I can help your kids? 🤷🏽‍♂️

    Children love to play. They also love to mimic the grown ups in their lives. Why not combine those two loves to help our children grow. .
Our Lift Off Academy classes allow the children to play, explore movements, get stronger and fitter and learn skills which will be useful for the rest of their lives, all whilst having fun. .
For children to learn, they need to enjoy what they’re doing. It is therefore very important that they enjoy their classes. The last thing we want is to put them off fitness!

    In the pursuit of changing how youth athletes train outside of sport. This is a matter that needs to be drastically overhauled. Our athletes deserve better and we will deliver better fitness and professional strength and conditioning coaching to ALL athletes in Prince George.
