    Hey guys!
It’s been a pretty good day here. I completely shattered my screen today (before it was only a few cracks through the screen and some shattering at the top, now i can barely read my screen) So I officially have to get a new phone 😕 It’s upsetting since I take really good care of the things I own and when they do break, I get stupidly sensitive about it (please someone tell me I’m not the only one like this)
Other than that, the day was great! The weather was beautiful and I got tons of reading done. I finished Clockwork Angel and started Vampire Academy!
.
QOTD: What is one book you bought completely for the cover? .
AOTD: The Apprentice Witch! I loved that cover! I wish I could say the book in this picture, because I love this cover, but once I found out it was an Edgar Allan Poe retelling, it was for more than the cover.

    Лето - это не только тёплые, длинные дни и ночи, но и куча сладких, приятных ароматов :) когда у всех пионы в ленте, а у меня все ещё сирень 😆

    Sunday read. ‘Impetuous heart, be still, be still;
Your sorrowful love may never be told;
Cover it up with a lonely tune.
He who could bend all things to His will
Has covered the door of the infinite fold
With the pale stars and the wandering moon.’

    💫This year Fairyloot has been including tarot cards in their boxes! The second set of six cards featured characters from Six of Crows!! I love these cards so much. These characters are some of my favourites and they’re drawn so beautifully!! I love all of the cards included so far, but the previous ones I hadn’t read the books for so these ones hold more significance for me. I think they were matched with the tarot meanings really well too. I have to admit I laughed at Wylan being “the fool” and Inej being “the hermit”, but I definitely see why those were chosen. These are all illustrated by the incredibly talented @artbyemmiline, but the next set of cards are going to be illustrated by a different artist! I’m interested to see how well they will match with the existing ones, but they’re going to be Harry Potter themed so I’m excited anyway!💫

    Book #31 of 100 Books by Female Authors Challenge: a group of friends and I started a book club. This was the first book that we all read and discussed. Before listening to this book, I didn’t know much about Harper Lee, the author of “To Kill a Mockingbird”. Now, I feel like if I ever choose to reread Mockingbird, it’ll be with new eyes. Furthermore, though this book tries to tell the story of a crime in Alabama that caught Harper Lee’s attention, it felt like it was telling two stories that often eclipsed one another instead of complementing each other. If you’re into true crime, this book will disappoint you because it’s true crime portion gets derailed by the last section of the book, which is essentially a biography of Harper Lee. And although this book has a lot of insightful tidbits, its structural problems get too much in the way to really appreciate the story that it’s trying to convey.

    To live is the rarest thing in the world,to live for others in the most horrifying situation is the bravest.Being brave isn't only about fighting for others when they suffer but it is equally brave to raise the daughter of this valiant woman who lost her life saving others.Since it's a book about books, the centre of this book one might think is the heroine whose finds people to share her love for books but it is about a woman whose stories brought them all together.

It is about Elizabeth McKenna, whose bravery in time of despair founded the Guernsey Literary And Potato Peel Pie Society. When the Islanders were under the occupation of germans during world War II & they lost their freedom & sense of community, on one occasion, they all get together for a rare feast when after breaking the curfew they were about to arrest, that's when it sprang up in the oddest situation.

This is an epistolary novel (a novel written in the series of letters & notes), where Juliet Ashton (a writer) starts a correspondence with Dawsey Adams (an islander) when he finds her address written on the book he loved.

In exchange of letters Juliet come to know of this strange but appealing society where ordinary people talks about how books have affected them, how they become their only source of light in dark days. How books saved their life & brought different lonely people together.

This book has its emotional depth when talking about the horrific incidents of world War II while holding on to faith & maintaining a lightness in tone which makes it a fun read.
You will gush for Dawsey Adams. It's one of those wonderful light read with deep thoughts in a package that is deceptively simple, which I will suggest everyone to read, to know how books have the power to change your life.
Though the movie is much different from the book but still it is adapted wonderfully, since the ending in the book is bit rushed owing to the writer's ill health which led to her eventual death & her niece completed the book. In that case movie did complete justice to the book adding memorable quotes & made the end enchanting.

QOFD- If you were to inherit 8 letters from an author, who you want that to be from?

    Today was my first day with some free time in New York, so I obviously had to visit @strandbookstore (I may or may not have wandered out with a new book that I’ve had my eye on for a little while). 📚✨

    What’s your favorite Narnia book?

Mine changes with every reread. But The Magician’s Nephew will always have a special place in my heart.
.
This gorgeous oil-painted dust jacket is the first in the exclusive dust jacket Narnia series from @Pixie_Dust_Official!! Don’t you want to just go live in those woods? 😍 I am in awe of the detail and the lighting and the skill behind this painting. And I get to have it on my shelf! 🤩
.
Today is the LAST DAY you can order their Lion, the Witch, and The Wardrobe box, which will have AM MUG IN IT! Ahhhhh!!! I’m such a mug hoarder! After this is The Horse and His Boy! I’m absolutely giddy!

I can’t wait to have the complete set!! If you haven’t joined the Pixie Dust crew, you shouuuuld! Come drool with me! (Also, my sister created this company so I’m all kinds of proud.)

    Happy Saturday!✨ I’ll just be over here chilling with this awesome stack of books from the BookSparks summer reading challenge 🤓 I’m also gonna try to read some more of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (I started a reread of the series earlier this year!), and hopefully I can finally make some good progress on it 😁 I hope you’re all having a great weekend with plenty of reading time ☺️✨

    Reading update! I’m currently in love with both of these books, for vastly different reasons and wishing I could take a reading vacation to finish both. Thank you @doubledaybooks and @atriabooks for the free copies!
🍃
The Most Fun We Ever Had by Claire Lombardo is written in such a way that I feel completely immersed in each characters’ lives and relationships. I can see them so clearly, the honesty I’m finding in each story feels very human. I cannot stop thinking about this one already and I’m only 1/4 of the way through!!
🍃
The Lost Queen by Signe Pike is a story rich in history and magic, characters that are growing on me with every page and a world described in such detail I want to visit it myself! I’m enjoying this fantasy immensely, which makes it hard to stop reading- it reminds me a little of Outlander but more like a historical fairytale!

    #KansasCity has one of my favorite skylines ever. Whenever I move, I’ll definitely miss the small town / big city vibes.⁣

If you could move any place in the world, where would you move to? (Also add where you’re all from too!)

    Beginnings are hard as endings are often bitter. If I stretch it further, I might be inclined to say it only seems hard because it means something. And if it means something, it’s already meant something and will continue to long after you’ve ceased to. If you’re at a beginning, trust that it’ll be alright. If you’re approaching an end, know it’ll be alright. And if you’re somewhere in between, it’s alright here too @sidd_long
