Morning all! Louis & Louise by @juliecohenauthor has got me thinking about micro-sexisms. 🤔
Those little negative things that happen purely because of your gender, but that no one really notices because they’re “not that big”. •

Louis & Louise follows the same person through their life as a boy and as a girl, showing the difference this makes. •
One particular little sentence that stood out to me was one where Louise’s mother tells her after she has to get glasses that she should get contacts because her eyes are ‘too beautiful’, yet Louis in the same situation just happily keeps on wearing glasses and no one tells him to do otherwise. •

And that’s only one of the many in this book, and only one favouring Louis. There are many from either side favouring Louis or Louise depending on the situation. •

Vox is another good book along a similar theme too!

What micro-sexisms have you noticed in your daily life?

“You are yours”, “Eve of Man” by Giovanna and Tom Fletcher 🖤👩🏼👱🏼‍♂️ 🇮🇹: Salve a tutti! 😘✨
🤔 🇬🇧: Hello there, lovelies! 😘✨
    How is life? 🤔
Here is pretty relaxed and almost too much relaxed but... at least I am enjoying a lot my CR! 😍
#eroinesigns2019 “Which familiar would the MC in your current reading have?” 🤔.
And I am currently reading “Skyward” and I do think that Spensa would love an hamster, totally not only because she seems to like rats... in the way she eats them... but ok...🤣. Also hamsters seem innocent creature till you piss them off (just like Spensa! 🌟).
#bookreadhappyhour “Cry me a river” my mood meanwhile I read about Eve part in this book...🤣
#bookqueensjan19 “Book you threw against a wall” and I chose “Eve of Man” (I will talk more about this in my #wwwwednesday , but...) because I got extremely angry at this book both for the theme it talked about both because it was written in an horrible way, in a format that made this book seem so out of context and low key childish...🙈
Have you ever wanted to throw a book against a wall? 🤔 Why? 🤔

QOTD 💬: What is your least favorite book and why?

If you didn't already know, then yeah, I didn't like The Night Circus all too much. I had bought it because of the hype hearing how magical and just all around amazing it was. The summary on the back even made it sound really good.
    It wasn't. (Well, to me)
You can read below why I don't like it. I don't think anything I say counts as spoilers, but go ahead and skip if you feel like it.
Side note: this is probably the only book I would feel comfortable folding over like that because, well...reasons above 😆

It wasn't fast paced or action oriented in the way you would think (or how the summary puts it), there is magic but no explanation as to how or why (the main characters even go about it in completely different ways but manage to get the same result? Drove me mad), there were time jumps that focused on different characters (🤦), and the love was way too insta-lovey because the main characters had almost no direct interaction at all.
But what I will say was a good point about this book was the writing. It definitely was magical and so easy to picture what was being described with little effort.
    I just won't read it again. 😕

Hello! 👋 I really like how this pic turned out. I think it looks very romantic. In case you’re wondering, that’s perfume next to the book. It’s a new scent from Chloe and it smells amazing. -

    -
QOTD: Do you like wearing perfume? Which one do you wear?
AOTD: Yes. I love wearing any of Chloe’s. They all smell so amazing. They’re floral but not too overpowering.

Morning all! I just posted yesterday evening a mini reviews blog post! •

It was just catching the four books I didn’t quite get around to reviewing that I read in 2018 (spoiler: I loved a LOT of the books I read in 2018!!) 😄

So if you want to check those out quickly the link is in my bio.
There’s also a longer review of Nevernight a little while back if you were at all on the fence about buying it. 😂

Do you guys like writing long reviews of books or are you more a quick impression sort of person?

    Good morning!🍃

I can't believe I'm actually awake early enough to be posting in the morning! Today's moving day for us and I'm so excited, hence why I'm up so early!

I'm also on page 599 of Empire of Storms which means I have less than 100 pages until the end of the book. I can't believe it's taken me this long to get through it but it's nice to finally be out of my slump and reading the books that I want to. I've cried so many times over the last thirty or so chapters and so, I'm dreading getting to Kingdom of Ash because I know it will break my heart.

I hope you all have a great day, and if the heat is anything near what it will be where I am; stay cool and keep hydrated!

“Why Lie?”, “Lady Midnight” by Cassandra Clare ✨🔥😭 🇮🇹: Ora so che vi state chiedendo: MA MARTINA GIÀ STAI MALE DI FACCIA...
🤔 🇬🇧: Hello there, lovelies! 😘✨
I know I know what you are thinking: would you mind shoot showing your scrunched face, here? 🤔
But it’s for a good cause or better... explain you the three phases you go through every freaking time a book ends with a cliffhanger... (for #bookreadhappyhour “Cliffhangers are the worst”).
And we have anger (“I want to smash this book in somebody’s face “), sadness. (“I want to smash this book in my face”) and finally we have happiness... because I have the freaking book in my hands! 😭😍 (i still haven’t read “Queen of Air and Darkness” actually, so don’t spoil me...😅).
#bookqueensjan19 “Magic and Betrayal: Kingdom Of Copper & Circle Of Shadows Release day”
#janlitwrit19 “Three Songs To Descrive Your WIP” And I have actually a playlist but let’s narrow it down at three: “Blood in the water” by Grandson, “Carry You” by Ruelle and Fleurie and “The Great Shipwreck Of Life” by IAMX! 🔥
What is your typical reaction at a bookish cliffhanger? 🤔 Do you like them? 🤔 Hate them? 🤔

Hi! Today I am once again partnering with @TLCBookTours to bring you Learning to See by @elisehooper (published by @williammorrowbooks). This tells the story of Dorothea Lange, a famous photographer.
    -
    -
    -
    Synopsis:
In 1918, a fearless twenty-two-year old arrives in bohemian San Francisco from the Northeast, determined to make her own way as an independent woman. Renaming herself Dorothea Lange she is soon the celebrated owner of the city’s most prestigious and stylish portrait studio and wife of the talented but volatile painter, Maynard Dixon.

By the early 1930s, as America’s economy collapses, her marriage founders and Dorothea must find ways to support her two young sons single-handedly. Determined to expose the horrific conditions of the nation’s poor, she takes to the road with her camera, creating images that inspire, reform, and define the era. And when the United States enters World War II, Dorothea chooses to confront another injustice—the incarceration of thousands of innocent Japanese Americans.
    -
    -
QOTD: Speaking of photography, what’s the craziest thing you have ever done for a bookstagram pic?
AOTD: I haven’t done anything super crazy, but I did take that semi-sexy photo a while back and I guess that was kind of crazy.

I was very much a traveler in 2017 and the first half of 2018. Then ~T H I N G S~ happened. I started a new job, so I couldn't file for paid leave. My grandfather passed away. My brother got severely ill and was hospitalized, then my mother, then me (that was a horrible month, jsyk). Not a fun latter half of the year.

But I'm officially off probationary status at my new job (which, after how much work I've dedicated to that corporate giant, as we say in Tagalog, DAPAT LANG UY 😂). My and my family's health is back in better shape. So now I'm claiming it for the universe to hear: 2019 will be the year I get back to traveling!

I'm young (...fairly - 26 is still young, right???) and don't have anyone depending on me financially (except a cat and a ton of houseplants). I am exactly the type of person who should be GETTING OUT THERE and seeing the world.

And, just because I am who I am, bringing along a ton of books to read on the way. 😉

Photo: When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon, taken in La Union.

So where was the last place you traveled to, and what books did you pack? 🌿☕
