First time trying to fill seams with air dry clay (specifically Crayola because it’s what was lying around the house). I’ve seen it done before and it’s cheaper than trying to use body filler. Here’s hoping it works and I can finish these up

Before you think this is the original Armalite AR-10 it’s not, this is the Armalite AR-10B which is a slightly modernized civilian version made in 1995 opposed to the original AR-10 which was made in 1956. When I was drawing I thought that I was drawing the AR-10;the modern AR-15 style pistol grip looked odd for the 50’s but I didn’t pay attention until I was done and it turned out to be the AR-10B. Also the caliber should be .308 Winchester in this case and the flag should have 50 stars not 48(I like to point out mistakes). Anyway think of the AR-10 as the AR-15’s older bigger brother. It shoots a 7.62 instead of the 5.56 and the AR-15 was made in 1959. This rifle had trials but didn’t get adopted by the military. The picture on the right may be a trial shooting by the Bundeswehr but I’m not sure. #308 #ar10 #ar10b #762 #762nato #art #drawing #sketch #guns #usa #firearms #battlerifle #armalite

My brand new Fubar'd @bushmaster_official ACR 556. I was very impressed with the ergonomics, the folding stock, the ambi controls, yada yada. Couldn't wait to go shoot it. •

Yesterday, at the range less 2 mags down the barrel. I was plinking a little with irons and then put on the @trijicon 4×32 Acog after the 2nd round of the 3rd mag, in layman's terms the bolt twisted the barrel 1/8" of center. Never seen anything happen like this with an AR. You can see in the picture what I'm talking about the barrel locking lever is obviously tweaked, which is attached to the barrel that must be muffed as well. Bolt is stuck. Charging handle is stuck. Can't do a dang thing. Submitted a service request to @bushmaster_official this morning after messing with it all night. Not a happy guy. I'm sure I'll get it fixed, but I can't recommend buying one until I experience their customer service.

Update ** got my automated service ticked number from Bushmaster •

So I blasted off roughly 300 rounds trying to bumpfire, my ak sweated like a dog. And started a small scrimmage at the hill side, had everyone and their granny trying to bumpfire.

So, this pops up in my email from @palmettostatearmoryofficial and it sparks some questions. Is the @fn_america Special operations forces Combat Assault Rifle worth the $3569 MSRP? The real question is what does it offer to its users that aren’t in Seal Team 6 or Delta Force... It isn’t light weight, 8lbs for a 16.25” barrel. PSA’s 18” is 7.81lbs, POF’s DI 16.5” is 6.8lbs, POF’s PD 16.5” is 7.3lbs and Christensen’s 18” CA-10 is 7.2lbs. Every rifle listed has a longer barrel and weighs less..also all are offered in multiple calibers like 6.5, 260, etc

The Trigger on the SCAR is around 5.5-6lbs and feels like a standard milspec. The upgrades are double the price of the AR stuff and more expensive ARs already come with quality single stage triggers. But if you need an upgrade @cmctriggers 3.5lb is$100-130 vs @timney_triggers scar for $357...for $3000k I expect more.

Ergonomics, most of them are taken from the AR, till we get to the reciprocating charging handle...which is super stupid and could easily strike the user or catch on something during use. Also, you have to buy an extra rail to make it a logical length of most handguards for the barrel length. Most companies offer adjustable gas blocks, POF has it on the DI and Piston gun, it’s not special.

Accuracy? Some people get impressive groups, some don’t. For the price, AR10s from @lwrci @pofusa @christensenarms @jprifles @laruetactical @sigsauerusa will easily out shoot a SCAR. Also, the SCAR is a 1:12 twist not a 1:10 like the others, which I don’t understand.
Proprietary mags for $38 a piece, it’s not a huge deferent, but it’s one of the many reasons why I consider M1a/M14 to be a laughable rifle too!

Last but not least and I won’t harp on the issue, but it is widely known the SCAR has weird harmonics that damage optics. For whatever reason people try to deny that it has happened.
In the end, it’s your money, is looking like an operator with FDE gun is what it takes? Or having a lighter, cheaper, better gun overall gun is what you need, maybe the AR platform is a better choice. Feel free to weigh in!

🇺🇸 This is the next step in my series on the history of the US Army Rifle Squad. This immediately follows the last post, and was the Army's squad layout from 1959 to 1963. 📲 Check out the link in my bio for the entire 100 year visual history of the US Army and Marine Rifle Squads under “Graphics”.
-
⚔️ There were two major developments here: (1) a more familiar rank structure that closely resembles what the Army currently uses was implemented and (2) the M14 was introduced as a replacement for the M1 Garand.
-
⚔️ All the Corporals in the Korean War/1950s era organization? Replaced with the Specialist 4 rank in this role, as a non-NCO rank. The sergeant rank reverted back to its 3 stripes insignia (from 1948 to 1959 it had resembled what is now the Staff Sergeant rank insignia). Further, the Sergeant First Class rank was moved to the platoon sergeant billet and the Staff Sergeant rank was reinstated and given the squad leader billet.
-
⚔️ The M14 was America's brand spanking new service rifle at this time, and would be on the way out in less than a decade. It was intended to replace both the M1 Garand and the M1918 BAR. Although a dedicated heavy-barrel automatic rifle version called the M15 was in the works, this version was cancelled. In the interim between that cancellation and the adoption of the more modified M14A1 for the automatic rifle role, the M14 given to automatic riflemen took some characteristics of the M15, including the M2 bipod and hinged buttplate.
-
⚔️ Otherwise, the structure of the squad itself was largely the same as the 1956 rework. Namely, 2 fire teams of 5 men each lead by an overall squad leader. Each fire team and a team leader, automatic rifleman, and 3 riflemen. More substantial changes would come in 1963 as part of the Reorganization Objective Army Division (ROAD) reforms.

🌇 Pick this poster under the "Middle East" story highlight on my profile! 🇹🇷 Here we have the current or near-future organization of the Turkish Infantry Squad. This is based on consultation with a Turkish Land Forces servicemember.
-
⚔️ I say near future because it features the MPT-76 which is currently replacing the G3A7 in service. The G3A7 still remains in service in some units units although being phased out, as well as Kalashnikov rifles in some areas. From what I've been told, the HK33 is used concurrently with the MPT-76. However, it is a one-or-the-other thing. There is typically not a mix of the two in the same unit. The MPT-55 is also used in commando units.
-
⚔️ In addition, the PKM serves as a squad-level machine gun in commando units, although the MG-3 is considered the primary squad-level machine gun. Some other things are in flux, such as the potential replacement of the T-40 grenade launcher, which is based on the M203.
-
⚔️ The squad somewhat resembles the U.S. Army rifle squad organization, with 1 Squad Leader and 2 homogenous fireteams of 4 men. Each fireteam has 1 Fireteam Leader, 1 Machine Gunner, 1 Assistant Gunner, and 1 Rifleman/Grenadier.
-
⚔️ One rifleman/grenadier is armed with a T-40 grenade launcher - based on the M203 - while the other is armed with a Milkor MGL. The assistant machine gunner and team leaders also get an M72 LAW each. The squad leader has the option of mounting a thermal optic produced by 3e.
