I’m in therapy. A LOT of therapy. I recently started in an intense DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy) program. My psych team, made up of 4 doctors I trust deeply, made the decision to move me from CBT to DBT swiftly. This kind of therapy is pretty different from CBT, the common “talk therapy” that most people go into. It’s been incredibly difficult. I’m in contact with my psych and two backups 24/7, and go to DBT appointments twice a week. I’m working incredibly hard to stop behaviors and find healthier ways to cope with my depression and anxiety, as well as my situation. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t scared, and I’d be lying if I said I haven’t wanted to quit this therapy on multiple occasions. To be honest, most days I wonder why I’m even trying to get better. But deep, DEEP, down, I think some part of me wants to stay alive. Some part wants to see what a potential future could hold. So I’ve been in this program for the past few weeks, doing my absolute best to stay clean and keep moving forward. I thought I’d share this mental health update on me just in case any of you are curious as to how and where I’ve been or need some support yourselves.
