    Cranberry & Cinnamon Whisky Sour 🥃⠀
⠀
Ingredients:⠀
- 2 cups cranberries ⠀
- 2 cups water ⠀
- 2 cups sugar ⠀
- 2 cinnamon sticks ⠀
- 3/4 cup bourbon or whisky ⠀
- 1/2 cup lemon juice ⠀
- 1/4 cup orange juice ⠀
- 1/4 cup lime juice ⠀
⠀
Preparation:⠀
- In a medium-sized saucepan add cranberries, water, sugar, and cinnamon sticks.⠀
- Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. ⠀
- Reduce to a simmer and continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries have burst open and can easily be stirred into the syrup, resulting in a smooth consistency. This will take about 10 minutes. ⠀
- Once done, remove syrup from heat. ⠀
- Fit a large bowl with a fine mesh strainer and strain the simple syrup, leaving all of the large chunks and skin behind. Let cool for at least 10 minutes before using. ⠀
- When ready to make your cocktails, add 3/4 cup simple syrup, whisky, lemon juice, orange juice, lime juice, and a large handful of ice to a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for 30 seconds. ⠀
- Divide into 4 glasses and serve at once.⠀

    WELLNESS WEDNESDAY! Avoid that alcoholic beverage to get through this hump day!! Keep reading for why... A 30-year study at Oxford University looked at the affects of consuming alcohol. They found that consuming 4+ pints of beer or 5+ glasses of wine a week had negative affects on brain health. Specifically, they found significant atrophy in the hippocampus which is responsible for memory and learning.

Excess alcohol leads to an overload of toxicity and in turn, inflammation. Among all the other issues that come with chronic inflammation (i.e. auto-immune and heart disease), paired with toxicity, it can lead to the degrading of neuronal pathways. This leads to a massive increase in your chances of developing Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, dementia, and other brain and central nervous system complications.

As usual, moderation is your best friend when it comes to drinking. Try to limit yourself to 3ish a week at most and make that delicious glass of red wine a special treat that you have when you’re out with a friends🍷

Progress not perfection! Be mindful of what you put into your body and do your best to get down to 3 beverages a week 👍🏼
