-Lion Air has released a statement in which they will lease a Dutch ship and crew to assist in locating the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) from the wreckage of Lion Air flight JT-610 which plummeted into the Java Sea on October 29, 2018. The low-cost operator said in a statement that the ship, MPV Everest, will arrive in the Indonesian town of Karawang on 19 December, after departing the Malaysian city of Johor Bahru on 17 December. They did not specify on the length of the charter but as of now, the total cost in searches for the CVR alone have reached over $2.62 million USD, or ₹38 Billion RP. The flight data recorder (FDR) was recovered on November 2, 2018, with the details being released in a November 28, 2018 preliminary report. An anonymous source stated the NTSC has gone short on funding for the incident, leaving Lion Air to fund the CVR recovery. Lion Air's insurers were also reportedly reluctant to pay for the search, which also led to the airline's direct involvement. NTSC officials will also oversee "all operations on board" the ship, despite obtaining funding from Lion Air. -
