  • long dumb post ahead: so. i don& #039 ;t look like the typical tharja cosplayer. i am not thin or in shape by any means. i fought with myself over the course of five years wanting to cosplay tharja but never feeling confident enough in myself to do so, or even finding a place that sold something in my size. i love cosplaying, but any bigger person will tell you that it& #039 ;s not a chubby-friendly hobby. you never feel like you look half as good as the people around you, or you& #039 ;re constantly feeling like you would be a significantly better cosplayer if you just lost all the weight. you spend a lot of time cursing your body for being this way while simultaneously envying all the naturally-thin people around you. while there& #039 ;s been a small breakthrough for curvy cosplayers in recent years (and that& #039 ;s great!), it& #039 ;s only those who are considered "thicc": big boobs, big thighs, big ass, no tummy, no chins, etc. the "good" fat. my point is that, despite these overarching issues within myself and the shallowness of the con community, i still look and feel good in my own way, which is all that matters. this cosplay marked a big milestone in how i view myself and my weight. i& #039 ;ve still got a long way to go, and it won& #039 ;t be easy due to underlying medical reasons, but i& #039 ;m still trying to get to a place that i feel most comfortable in my own skin. thanks for reading! 📸: @janegofett // // // #tharja #tharjacosplay #fireemblemawakening #fireemblemcosplay #fireemblemheroes #fireemblem #cosplay #cosplaygirl
