  • People always ask about how we came up with the name Sip City. And in reality, there isn’t a short answer or just one answer. The notion behind the company has always been mindful drinking and promoting a balanced lifestyle. We toyed with lots of names and combinations but nothing felt quite right. Then, when Nikki was on the treadmill, she saw a commercial for a drug called Trulicity, and said “Trulicity, licity, city, Sip City,” and hopped off the treadmill to text Josie with the idea. Sip City perfectly captures who we are as a company. First and foremost, we want you to sip, not chug. Too often in our work hard, play hard culture, we mindlessly down drinks: from coffee to energy drinks to rail cocktails. We wanted our name to convey the notion that its ok to slow down and sip (especially with a vinegar based drink!) And for us, cities feel like live organisms that are emblematic of the human spirit. Cities are where people connect: they eat, they play, they work, they live, they meet, they drink. Cities are full of energy and communities and art and culture. We named our drink flavors after the cities we’ve lived in and that inspire us because we feel that cities are unique, just as flavors are unique. There is an emotional connection when you pick up The Boston, versus picking up a flavor named the “Turmeric Kick.” We want Sip City to be an experience, not just a bottle that you pick up and drink and toss when you’re done. We hope you feel some of that energy and connection when you pick up our switchel!
