The Curse of La Llorona (Film, 2019)
From the producers of The Conjuring universe comes this brand new film inspired by the urban legend of La Llorona (the weeping woman). The movie takes place in 1973 and follows recently widowed mother and social worker Anna, played by Linda Cardellini, as she is called to the home of a client named Patricia who has displayed some disturbing and odd behavior concerning her sons. When Anna releases the children, a horrifying accident occurs thrusting Anna and her children into a world of unimaginable horror as the lost soul of La Llorona latches herself onto the children. She wants them as her own, but Anna will not surrender and soon it becomes a fight for their lives. Weaving Hispanic culture with modern horror, director Michael Chaves has created a tale of sheer nightmares and the lengths a mother would go to protect her children from an unthinkable evil. When I found out a feature-length film about La Llorona was being created, I just about freaked because growing up half Hispanic myself I knew a lot about La Llorona and was always intrigued by the legend and the story. Seeing the story played out on the big screen was incredible and almost everything I wanted. La Llorona was terrifying to look at and the story itself was equally terrifying to think about with an inescapable force threatening to take your children away. I must say, though, that there was a lot of build-up that led to nothing and some parts were lacking in keeping my attention, but other than that I was not disappointed. There was also a moment in which a character from The Conjuring universe arrived and tied it to the universe as well, which was kind of cool. I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars! Absolutely go see it if you can!

#Repost from @horrorfilmhistory with @regram.app ... Back in December I posted a shot of actress LINDA BLAIR (bottom) during a test for the 'Levitation' device for "THE EXORCIST" (1973), and recently I saw a second shot I thought I'd share with you (top). I also included some clips of some makeup tests, superimposition tests, and BLAIRS painful reaction to the 'bed thrashing' test as you'll see her crying. Oh, and we can't forget actor JASON MILLER'S reaction to being sprayed in the face with a concoction of 'Pea Soup and Oatmeal'.
-
[Trivia by IMDb]👇
The scene where 'REGAN' (BLAIR) projectile vomits at 'FATHER KARRAS' only required one take. The vomit was intended to hit JASON MILLER in the chest, but the plastic tubing misfired, hitting him in the face. His reaction of shock and disgust while wiping away the vomit is genuine, and MILLER (supposedly) admitted in an interview that he was very angered by this mistake.

#Repost from @horrorfilmhistory with @regram.app ... The 'REGAN MACNEIL' Mechanical Puppet, at NYC - Queens - Astoria: Museum of the Moving Image.
-
The 'REGAN MACNEIL' Mechanical Puppet from the 1973 film, "THE EXORCIST", was cread by prosthetic makeup artist/designer DICK SMITH and mechanical effects designer MARCEL VERCOUTERE. The singel most shocking image in the film occurs when the head of 'REGAN MACNEIL, played by LINDA BLAIR, rotates a full 360 degrees. To achieve this shot this dummy, complete with mechanically controlled rotating head was created from a mold of BLAIR'S body filled with foam latex. The had has radio controlled eyes that could be made to move during the shooting. SMITH and others made the puppet's mouth appear to move by photographing LINDA BLAIR and then superimposing the image of her moving mouth onto the image of the puppet. This superimposition was done using an optical printer. Today, this sort of shot is achieved more efficiently with computer graphics. (Though IMO, old school is better).

The' Museum of the Moving Image', located at 36-01 35 Avenue in Astoria, promotes the public understanding and appreciation of the art, history, technique and technology of film, television, and digital media by collecting, preserving, and providing access to moving-image related artifacts via multimedia exhibitions and educational programming. Originally established in 1977 as the Astoria Motion Picture and Television Center Foundation, opened on September 10, 1988, in the former East Coast home as Paramount Pictures as the first museum in the United States that was evoted solely to the art, history and technology of film, television and video.

[I hope you all enjoyed the past 2 days look back at "THE EXORCIST" (1973). Hopefully I didn't 'over - do' it.
If there's a certain movie you'd like more BTS info on, let me know in the comments and I'll try to do a post in the near future. Till next time, Gnite and Happy Nightmares.]

A Little Guy Found on The Street Today, made me think of Melody sung by CHER🍒#childhoodsong Melody you're my oldest friend
I can talk to you
What a day it's been
Out there in the madden crush
Another day's gone dying in the dust
Melody, listen for the phone
While I change my clothes
He knows by now I'm home
Three days waiting took its toll
This trying to type and crying's getting old
Melody, remember long summer days
Playing grown ups in the city
Mama saying sweet dreams sleepy heads
Tucked in bed with you, my favorite dolly
Oh Melody, with your raggedy charms
I have looked for love in a stranger's arms
Scared of going home, for what they'll see
You know mama eyes could always look right through
And daddy, he won't be so proud of me
No, they won't understand like you, Melody
