Journey to al-Azhar (Part 2/3)⠀
⠀
Roughly a year later after we had first applied, we received some good news: our names had come out. Now we had a few more things to complete as a part of the registration process, one of them being medical tests. So off we went to the hospital - the first test was a blood test (I hate needles and so I cried a little bit, and the nurses were very amused), the second test was an eye test (which didn’t involve any eye test whatsoever. I think as long as you managed to find the ophthalmology department they were confident that your vision was clearly fine). Another test was a skin test (they just looked at my hands and asked me to spread my fingers), and I’m not sure what the last test was for, because they just looked at me and signed off my medical report. I found the whole process quite amusing!⠀
⠀
The entrance exams took place in September and there were 3 sets of them. The first set of exams was just to test the students' Arabic level and it was a very difficult exam. The year prior I remember seeing that only 80 students (approximately) passed the Arabic exam, even though around 1000 students had sat it (we had heard that 70 or 80% was required to pass). The exam was intense - it was 2 hours long, and there were 120 multiple-choice questions to answer, an essay to write, and two listening comprehension exercises to complete. There was not enough time, and many students weren’t able to finish it.⠀
⠀
Alhamdulilah I passed the first exam and was able to progress to the next exams. These next exams were to determine my placement level in Ma’had Bu’uth, which is where foreigners have to study before they can enter al-Azhar university. Ma’had Bu’uth is a 6 year program - 3 years for the primary level, and 3 years for the secondary level, so depending on how well you do in the exams will determine how high you are placed in the institute. Most students hope to place into the 5th or 6th year of the institute so they only have a year or two of study before they can move into the University (continued in comments)

Yapo mengi ya kuyakumbuka kutoka #Afcon2019 #egypt
1. Kushuhudia Afcon yenye timu 24 mwanzo mwisho.
2. Utamaduni wa watu wa Misri ni burudani.
 Tutaendelea.....
